A survey initiated by Reddit forum user Alfredo Tayloro revealed the most popular ways for players to play, and one of the interesting things is that players prefer to play side quests than main quests.

The survey had a total of 7,500 participants, of whom 70% said that when they start a new save, they would prioritize side quests rather than promoting the main story and other content, and only 10% of players said they would complete the main storyline.

In addition to this, the survey has an interesting result. When players choose between warrior, mage, and stalker's game style, 45% prefer the stalker style, followed by the aggressive warrior style with a 35% ratio, while the mage style is only 20%.

In open-world RPGs, side quests are more likely to grab their attention if the player has already completed the main quest. For many players, the main story of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim isn't as appealing as its side content.
