The Shunzhi Emperor died at the age of 24, why did he have so many sons?

author:Amusement Hidekawa

There is no so-called "hidden feeling", purely because Shunzhi got married early that year.

You know, shunzhi was only thirteen years old when he gave birth to his eldest son, Aisin Kyora Niu, and according to this age, shunzhi had eight "sons" when he died at the age of twenty-four, which is not surprising at all.

Mo compared the "marriage" of the Qing Dynasty with the current situation, the Qing Dynasty still belongs to the low-productivity farming era, population is the main theme of social development, the Qing royal family continued the previous practice of the Central Plains Dynasty: early marriage and early childbearing, and the marriage age standard of the Qing Dynasty is earlier than that of the Han people.

In 1644, after the Battle of Shanhaiguan, the gate of the Central Plains was opened, Li Zicheng fled, and the Qing Dynasty officially entered the Central Plains, and the "emperor" of this huge new regime was a seven-year-old child, he was Ai Xinjue Luo Fulin, who was the ancestor of the Qing Dynasty, known as the Shunzhi Emperor.

Shunzhi's ascension to the throne was highly accidental, because of Dorgon's struggle for power, Shunzhi took a huge advantage, and his brother Hauge instead lost the qualification to ascend the throne.

After becoming emperor, Shunzhi's status rose, and his mother Xiaozhuang was even higher.

But this is not the most important thing, the most important thing is that according to the custom of the Qing Dynasty, tianzi must have been married very early, so when the Shunzhi Emperor was not yet fourteen years old, he was married.

The first wife of the Shunzhi Emperor, the first empress, was the Borjigit clan, and it was also this year that Shunzhi's "eldest son" Ai Xinjueluo Niu Niu was born, but Niu Niu's birth mother was not an empress, so Niu Niu's life was also bumpy.

In the historical records, niu niu died prematurely, but in fact, in the Yongzheng period, niu niu "appeared" in the folk, and his life became a mystery, the reason is that his mother's status was too low, and the Shunzhi Emperor was still "young" and could not protect their mother and son at all, so there was this out.

When the Shunzhi Emperor was thirteen years old, he gave birth to his first child, and from this child-giving age, it can be seen that the standards of marriage and childbirth at that time were generally high, and most importantly, this also showed that the Shunzhi Emperor had a strong reproductive ability.

Two years later, Shunzhi's second son was born, and this child was Ai Xinjueluo Fuquan, who later qualified kangxi to "compete" but indifferently withdrew.

Fuquan was born to the Shunzhi Emperor and another concubine, Dong Eshi, Fuquan was different from Kangxi, and had stayed in the palace since childhood, but he did not have kangxi's wisdom, and the Shunzhi Emperor asked his second son whether he wanted to be an emperor or a prince in the future.

It was such an elder brother who, throughout his life, had a very good relationship with Kangxi, and Kangxi was the third son of Shunzhi, born only half a year later than Fuquan.

After the birth of Kangxi, Shunzhi experienced a period of "fertility", and for more than two to three years, Shunzhi did not continue to have children, and in 1657, Shunzhi gave birth to two sons in one breath, they were Shunzhi's fourth and fifth sons.

And this fourth son, the fate is more sad, because he died early in just a few months, strictly speaking, Shunzhi's fourth son is really recognized as the one who "died early", Shunzhi is very sad, this child has not even taken Shunzhi's name, he died prematurely, Shunzhi gave him the title of "Prince", for Prince Heshuorong.

However, the fifth son was more contentious, survived, and grew up healthy, the fifth son had a name, loved Xinjue luo Changning, and later still deeply loved by his brother Kangxi, and in the tenth year of Kangxi, he was named Prince Gong.

After Changning, Shunzhi gave birth to three sons in 1659 and 1660, namely Shunzhi's sixth, seventh, and eighth sons.

The three of them, the last fruits of Shunzhi, were also born in the prime of Shunzhi, and when Shunzhi was twenty-two or twenty-three years old, they came to this world one after another.

Shunzhi's six sons were named "Qishou", the seventh son was named "Longxi", and the eighth son was named "Yonggan", these three people, not long-lived people, especially Qishou and Yonggan, had not lived for more than ten years, and they died early, not a premature death, but also very sad.

Compared with the two brothers, Longxi was lucky, lived to nearly twenty years old, and was later made a pure prince by Kangxi, and was deeply loved by Kangxi.

But about the sadness of their death, Shunzhi did not feel it, because Shunzhi died suddenly in 1661 because of smallpox infection.

What surprised the world was that after Dorgon successfully settled in Beijing, Shunzhi, another young emperor of the Qing Dynasty who had become the lord of Zhongxing, actually died because of "smallpox", and most importantly, Shunzhi was infected with smallpox, the time was only a few short days, in this process, shunzhi who was in his prime had already gone step by step to despair, and finally calmly faced death.

It is also because Shunzhi "died early", so he did not continue to have children, otherwise, according to Shunzhi's frequency of childbirth, if he is long enough, the possibility of doubling several times is there.

In the last days of Shunzhi's life, he was fully prepared.

In the early years, Kangxi lived outside the palace for fear of being "infected" with smallpox, and was raised by Su Ma Lama since childhood.

But unexpectedly, Kangxi was still infected with smallpox, but what was even more miraculous was that Kangxi survived and successfully obtained immunity to smallpox, while Shunzhi was not so lucky, and finally fell under the destruction of smallpox.

When choosing the crown prince, the Shunzhi Emperor, who was still entangled between Fuquan and Xuan Ye (Kangxi), decided to let Xuan Ye, who was no longer afraid of smallpox, ascend the throne.

Shunzhi was about to die of smallpox, which showed that in his heart, smallpox was extremely terrible, so later generations said that Kangxi was "blessed by misfortune" in his childhood, which is not a joke, but true.

In fact, when Shunzhi was alive, in addition to giving birth to eight sons, he also gave birth to "six" daughters.

This also means that if the number of children is counted together, Shunzhi has a total of "fourteen" biological children in his lifetime, and Shunzhi, who is only 24 years old in his lifetime, has given birth to fourteen children, which is shocking, but compared with the royal history of the Qing Dynasty, this is another norm.

However, Shunzhi's "child relationship" in his life is very poor, in addition to the early death of his son, Shunzhi's "daughter relationship" is the worst.

Because of Shunzhi's six daughters, five died prematurely, only the second daughter of the emperor and the princess Shuo Gonggong successfully grew up, and the other daughters died early when Shunzhi was alive, which means that Shunzhi had to experience the "pain of losing his daughter" five times.

Therefore, although Shunzhi is young, he has so many children, this matter is not paradoxical, it can be explained.

Coupled with the "smallpox" in the palace at that time, the rulers were afraid of smallpox on the one hand, and on the other hand, they encouraged fertility, advocated early marriage and early childbearing to preserve their own bloodline and maintain the balance of the population, on this basis, the Shunzhi Emperor gave birth to so many children, which is related to a certain extent.

For example, Kangxi, after he ascended the throne, was also quickly cultivated, and Kangxi and his father Shunzhi were the same as the young Tianzi, and soon, they were also arranged to marry.

Kangxi's first wife was hersheri, kangxi was married when he was only a teenager, and the age of giving birth to the emperor's eldest son, Yin Zhen, was later than the time when Shunzhi gave birth to niu niu, and Kangxi only ushered in his first son when he was eighteen.

But this is also relatively true in the specific circumstances of that era.

In fact, having children at the age of eighteen still belongs to early marriage and early childbearing, and Kangxi also inherited the good genes of Shunzhi, which is relatively strong in fertility, and his nine sons are based on the basis of his ability to both give birth and longevity, and his sons are like dragons and have superior abilities.

Perhaps Shunzhi himself did not expect that Kangxi would be able to live for so many years in the future, which was in stark contrast to his short and tragic fate.

Among the sons of Shunzhi, age and longevity also became an extreme, such as longevity such as Kangxi, almost ancient and rare, and those sons who died early, such as the fourth, sixth and eighth sons of the Shunzhi Emperor, were all "short-lived" factions, and their low survival rate was closely related to the palace environment and the sanitary environment at that time.

After this, the title of "Lord of Zhongxing" was finally handed over to Kangxi to complete, Kangxi, which belonged to a continuation of Shunzhi's rule, and Daqing also made up for the imbalance in the development of Daqing because of the loss of Shunzhi, and finally stepped on the road of Kangqian's prosperity step by step.
