In the latest issue of the MVP list released this morning, Nuggets center Jokic won the first place, the Bucks' alphabet brother continued to rank second, and the 76ers' embiid ranked third. This is the last issue of the MVP list of the season, and there are signs that Jokic is likely to lift the MVP trophy for the second consecutive year.
However, perkins, a well-known commentator, does not see it that way, and in the latest episode of the podcast "First Take", he affirmed Jokic's excellent performance, but said that in contrast, Embiid should get mvp.
"First of all, I have to say that I am very happy to see two big men leading the MVP competition, and there is no doubt that Jokic has performed very well; but I personally still support Embiid's election as MVP. The truth is that when simmons' affairs got in the spotlight, the Philadelphia dressing room was a mess, Embiid didn't complain, he didn't make excuses, he withstood the pressure, he showed his ability, got the team out of the woods, and played a brilliant performance with a broken lineup. Perkins said.
Many people disagreed with Perkins' claim because although Embiid lacked Simmons before All-Star Weekend, Jokic also lacked Porter Jr. and Murray Jr., and the gap between the two teams was not large in terms of record, the Nuggets were fourth in the East with 49 wins and 31 losses, while the Nuggets were sixth in the West with 48 wins and 33 losses; and after the All-Star Weekend, the 76ers also got James Harden, one of the league's best point guards.
Perkins also has his own opinion on this, he believes that it is Embiid's excellent performance that attracted Harden, which made the latter decide to join Philadelphia.
"To get Harden to leave Durant and Owen to join Philadelphia, embiid must have done something special, and his performance attracted Harden. Embiid currently leads the scoring table with 30.4 points, and the last to do so was O'Neal, who was MVP that year. Perkins continued.
