Tesla released a patent for a "new integrated seat temperature control system"

Recently, Tesla released a new patent for an integrated temperature control system for its vehicle seats, and Tesla said that the document released on March 31, 2022 is a continuation of its "car seat with integrated temperature control system" patent filed on February 21, 2019.

In this published patent, Tesla lists many aspects of the current inadequate control of seat temperature: "Attempts to provide air ventilation through seat foam are often not enough to eliminate excess heat and provide a comfortable environment for occupants, in addition, traditional heating systems are bulky and take up space in the seats, which often require thicker seats, and heating seats is inefficient, since heat usually has to pass through multiple layers and heat seat areas that passengers do not touch, therefore, the temperature control system of car seats needs to be improved"

Tesla's solution was to create a temperature control system that pumps fluid into the entire car seat: "The temperature control system consists of a base layer and an intermediate layer set adjacent to the base layer, the middle layer allows fluid to flow through it, the temperature control system includes an overlay set adjacent to the middle layer, the temperature control system also includes at least one heating element set between the middle layer and the overlay, and the temperature control system also includes a fluid pump to provide fluid flow through the middle layer."

According to Tesla, its new temperature control system is made of different layers of materials, including fluid pumps and heating components, which can actively cool and heat the seats in the car, and the new system will be expected to reduce the cost of vehicle manufacturing and minimize noise in the cabin in the future, while also effectively utilizing the power of the vehicle, just like the heat pump when Tesla first appeared in the Model Y.
