On Saturday, Romanian First Division side Volentari and Second Division side Petrolu played a friendly match, with the two sides shaking hands 1-1. A move by former Dalian Yifang player Budescu, who is playing for Volentari, caught the attention of the Romanian media, who put on the Petrolu shirt before the game and from which his career began.
Petrolu coach Nicola Constantine said in a post-match interview: "I needed Budescu and had a conversation with him in the winter, but he wanted to continue playing in the First Division at the time and I wished him all the best and told him that if I wanted to go home, I would be more than happy to talk to him in the summer. "Petrolu is currently at the top of the Romanian Second Division title group and has great hopes of progression to the Romanian League next season.
In previous interviews, Budescu did not hide his desire to return to Petrolu, saying that if Petrolu can successfully promote this season, he may return there in the summer, of course, all this premise is that Vorontari will not renew Budescu's contract. Budescu started his career at Petrolu in the 2005 season and played until 2011, where he has a deep affection.
Earlier this year, unable to stand the endless comments of former owner Bucharest Star president Gigi Bekali in public, Budescu chose to join another Romanian League side, Volentari, with whom he signed only a four-month contract and helped the team successfully enter the title group.
