Herdman – from women's to men's, from academy to adults, the leader of Canadian football!

The Maple Leafs have confirmed their promotion to the 2022 Qatar World Cup, leading them to the World Cup finals after 36 years, coach John Herdman, becoming the first head coach in football history to lead both the men's and women's national teams to the World Cup.

The 46-year-old Hadman worked as a youth coach for Sunderland before moving to New Zealand in 2001 and joining the New Zealand Football Association in 2003, where he was the manager of the New Zealand women's football team from 2006 to 2011.

In 2011, Herdman became the manager of the Canadian women's national team, and by 2016, he had led the Canadian women's team to two Olympic bronze medals.

In 2018, Herdman became the head coach of the Canadian men's national football team. In 2021, his Canadian men's football team climbed from 72nd to 40th in the world rankings, and now he has successfully led the team to the World Cup.

During these four years, he also served as director of the Canadian men's national team, responsible for the work of all age groups starting from the U14. Thanks to his multifaceted efforts, Canadian football has been able to move from its original namelessness to the present.
