Thunder coach Degnault announced that the team's rookie Josh Gidy is reimbursed this season due to a hip injury. Prior to his injury, Gidy was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for the fourth consecutive time: November, December, January, February. At one point in February's rookie list, Gidy was third, behind the Cavaliers' Mobley and the Raptors' Barnes.
Gidy, the No. 6 pick in the 2021 draft, has played in 54 games for the Thunder this season, averaging 31.6 minutes per game and averaging 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.4 blocks. He shot 41.9 percent from the field, 26.3 percent from three-point range and 70.9 percent from the free throws. Throughout February, he averaged 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game.
From Feb. 13 to Feb. 17, he had three consecutive triple-doubles in three consecutive games: Feb. 13 vs Bulls, 11 points, 12 boards and 10 assists; Feb. 15 vs Knicks, 28 points, 11 boards and 12 assists; Feb. 17 vs Spurs, 17 points, 10 boards and 10 assists. I thought Gidey's form would continue, but he was injured after the Thunder vs. Suns game on Feb. 25.
Gidy has won four triple-doubles this season, the first time on Jan. 3, when the Thunder vs. Lone Rangers, Gidy scored 17 points, 13 boards and 14 assists, becoming the NBA's youngest mr. triple-double. The top four young triple-doubles in NBA history are all Gedie keeping: 19 years old 84 days, 19 years old 125 days, 19 years 127 days old and 19 years 129 days old.
Before Gidy, the NBA's youngest triple-double record, three-goal hold (19 years and 140 days). Gidey was born on October 10, 2002 and is currently under the age of 20. The 2021 rookies are of good quality, Champion Cunningham, Jaylen Green, Tanhua Mobley, No. 4 Show Barnes, No. 5 Show Sagas, No. 6 Show Gidi.
After Gidy's injury, Mobley, Cunningham and Barnes were in the top three of the rookie list, with Mobley consistently topping the list. Looking at the performance of the Champions, Cunningham played in 58 games for the Pistons, averaging 32.7 minutes per game, 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists, shooting 41.3%, 31.9% and 84% from the field.
Green played in 60 games for the Rockets, averaging 31.2 minutes per game, 15.9 points, 3.3 boards, 2.6 assists in 0.7 steals, and shooting 41.7%, 33.2% and 79.9% from the field.
Tanhua Mobley played in 65 games for the Cavaliers, averaging 34.2 minutes per game, scoring 15.1 points, 8.4 boards, 2.6 assists and 1.7 blocks, shooting 50.6%, 25.3% and 66.5% from the field.
No. 4 Coach Barnes played in 66 games for the Raptors, averaging 35.7 minutes per game, 15.4 points, 7.6 boards, 3.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and shooting 49%, 30.4% and 72.7% from the field.
No. 5 Sagas played in 46 games for the Magic, averaging 27.6 minutes per game, scoring 12.1 points, 3.7 boards, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals, shooting three: 36.1%, 21.6% and 77.3%.
It's too early to say which rookie has a higher ceiling. But judging from the rookies in the first six picks, they at least did not have a high-ranking "parallel cargo" like Bennett or Tabit. Among these young people, who are you most optimistic about?
