In the middle of the last century, the development of the piano in China was difficult, he chose to use the piano to interpret the national theme, and created far-reaching works such as the piano accompaniment "Red Lantern", the ancient song "Ten Faces Ambush", and the piano concerto "Yellow River", which single-handedly opened the way for the nationalization of Chinese piano music.
Today, together with Nie Er, Xian Xinghai and Ma Sicong, he has been selected for the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, which has only 4 Chinese musicians listed.
At the same time, as an artist who received an early education in orthodox classical music, he was also an excellent interpreter of Western music. In the 1960s and 1970s, he became the first Chinese performer to perform at Carnegie Hall and has been called "recognized as one of the best interpreters of Schubert and Lister's pieces."

The 2022 International Piano Series kicked off with a solo concert by Yin Chengzong. Yin Chengzong carefully selected a piano work from the Romantic period, and with this work, he looked back on his personal artistic path and reviewed the course of his life for 80 years.
The concert will air online tonight at 19:30. In the pre-performance guided tour, Yin Chengzong himself will interpret the work for the audience and tell the little life picture recorded in the music.

In this concert, Yin Chengzong selected two exquisite piano sketches from Debussy's Moonlight and Schumann's Dream Pieces, as well as Brahms's Piano Sonata No. 3 in F minor and Schubert's Piano Sonata in B flat major. At the offline performance, the audience was amazed by the artist's physical strength and was in awe of his profound playing skills.
Debussy's "Moonlight" and Schumann's "Dream Song" record many of Yin Chengzong's childhood scenes, and whenever these music is played, Yin Chengzong seems to return to his innocent childhood.
Brahms is the best inheritor of Beethoven's classicism and revolutionary spirit, and piano sonata No. 3 in F minor is the best of his three sonatas, although he was only 20 years old at the time of creation, the music is full of ideals and passion, giving people light and hope. Yin Chengzong said
Brahms's piano sonata has a positive energy upwards, like telling people about the difficulties of coming out of hardships and valleys, giving people a kind of strength and encouragement. Although brahms created it when he was young, it still occupied a very important position at that time. ”
Schubert's Piano Sonata in B major was completed shortly before the composer's death, as if he were composing a requiem for himself. Yin Chengzong said
I've loved Schubert's music since I was a kid because they're so clear, clean, and can wash everyone's soul, especially in the current environment, and there's a need for such quiet, kind sounds. ”
