On the morning of March 25, the seminar on novels of Wang William, NanXiang and Cai Dong was held in the Lingnan Literature Space of Guangdong Literature and Art Center.
This conference is one of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Writers' Works Series Seminars", co-sponsored by the China Writers Association "Literature and Art Daily" and the Guangdong Writers Association. The meeting was held in a combination of online and offline methods.
Yan Jingming, vice chairman of the China Writers Association; Liang Hongying, member of the presidium of the China Writers Association and editor-in-chief of The Literary and Art Daily;Meng Fanhua, a well-known critic; and Liu Chun, member of the party leading group and secretary general of the Guangdong Writers Association, and other leaders and experts attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Zhang Peizhong, secretary of the party leading group and full-time vice chairman of the Guangdong Writers Association.
The current new trend of Chinese novel creation
In his speech, Yan Jingming elaborated on the characteristics of Wang William, Nanxiang and Cai Dong's novel creation. He pointed out that the three Guangdong writers in today's discussion are all writers who have gained strength in creation and have achieved very rich results.
In Yan Jingming's view, these three writers have something in common, in terms of identity, they all come from colleges and universities; in terms of creation, they all write a place together - Shenzhen. "Shenzhen, in reality, is the forefront of our country's reform and opening up. As far as literature is concerned, it becomes an image that goes directly into fiction. ”
Yan Jingming believes that the real place name "Shenzhen" has become an image into fictional literary works, reflecting a feature of the current Chinese novel creation:
As far as the geographical orientation of writing is concerned, on the one hand, it is to strengthen the real geographical orientation of the place where the story takes place, and many writers write place names that can find the corresponding real place names on the map, and do not specifically invent a place name; but on the other hand, they must exaggerate the allegorical color of the story that occurs in it.
"And this trend can be seen in the fiction creation of many writers, Liu Zhenyun's "One Day and Three Autumns" is very typical, and I think there is a lot of room for analysis on this point." Yan Jingming said.
"Secondly, the works of the three novelists are both about the city and the changes that have taken place in this era, and at the same time about their personal self-preservation, including the examination and reflection of the self, which is also common."
Yan Jingming said that the works of the three writers have room for discussion, and I believe that through this discussion, it will have enlightening significance for Guangdong's literary creation and even for the national literary creation.
The literary cause in the new era ushered in new opportunities for development
Zhang Peizhong pointed out that in recent years, the Guangdong Writers Association has actively explored how to tell the story of the Bay Area and build a healthy and harmonious literary ecology. Excellent works represented by Wang William's "Your Gaze", Nanxiang's "Earl Cat", and Cai Dong's "Under the Moonlight" continue to emerge, which is a microcosm of the remarkable results achieved in a series of work.
"At present, the literary cause in the new era is ushering in a once-in-a-lifetime development opportunity, and in the face of the new era, the magnificent tide of reform and the unique Chinese story and Chinese experience have provided inexhaustible resources and infinite possibilities for Guangdong's literary creation." Zhang Peizhong said that the wonderful reality of rich practice and rapid change calls on every writer and tests every writer.
Zhang Peizhong pointed out that the Guangdong Writers Association will continue to unite and lead Guangdong writers, firmly adhere to the people-centered creative orientation, go deep into life, take root in the people, write Guangdong stories, Bay Area stories, and Chinese stories with great ink and color, create more grounded, warm, and in-depth Lingnan literary masterpieces and works passed down from generation to generation, strive to promote the high-quality development of literature in the new era, and jointly build a literary peak in the new era.
Use your works to open a window into different worlds of life
The participating experts discussed Wang William's novella "Your Gaze", Nanxiang's short story collection "Earl Cat", and Cai Dong's short story "Under the Moonlight".
Experts believe that William Wang is a writer who is quite sensitive to metaphors and symbols, and can always catch the symbol of the times from an image. "Your Gaze" cleverly uses the alloy material made of the spectacle frame to hook up this current "age of alloy", "your gaze" looks at the world through the alloy frame, and the world glows with different vitality.
Through the small things in life, Nan Xiang's novel presents us with a world of thoughtfulness and profound insight into the times, society, and people's hearts. At a time when the fight against the epidemic is still the main theme, his "Earl Cat" activates our imagination of defeating the epidemic, and also makes us see the possibility of literature inspiring and warming people's hearts.
Cai Dong's attachment to the fireworks of the world shown in "Under the Moonlight", the writer's deep sympathy for the pain endured in life, the insight and description of the complex emotions and details of life in the depths of human nature, and the display of confidence in life all show the power of small and broad and shaking people's hearts.
Liang Hongying said that the creation of the three writers not only has the characteristics of intellectual creation, but also reflects their understanding of real life in the era of change. "Some of the examination and observations of the three writers on today's reality have opened a window into different worlds of life. In terms of literary narrative, it provides us with a valuable experience. ”
In Meng Fanhua's view, Nanxiang has enriched and developed realist novels with his creations, and expanded the boundaries of realist novel creation. William Wang's "Your Gaze" takes us into the past and reality of the Bay Area with his own unique life experience and narrative method.
Cai Dong himself said that his enduring enthusiasm for daily life and the constant discovery of the meaning of life are the novelist's true family foundation, and he loves fireworks in the world, and knows that this is the most precious nutrient. I really appreciate Cai Dong's attitude towards life. Meng Fanhua said.
