IT House news on March 24, according to 9to5 Google reported that if bringing the Android 12L to the Nexus 7 nine years ago is not enough, a developer has ported the latest mobile operating system version to the Raspberry Pi 4.
Already one of the champions of home-made computing, the Raspberry Pi is the backbone of many home automation projects, media servers, and the perfect simulation station for classic games. However, it is rare for Raspberry Pi owners to choose to take the Android route. Developer Konsta has been responsible for porting android systems to previous models, and their latest effort is to port the Android 12L to the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B.
As one would expect, this transplant is not perfect in the traditional sense. There are some errors related to video decoding, and many of the official Raspberry Pi camera accessories don't work properly. This includes an additional camera module and a built-in camcorder.
The Raspberry Pi's ported version of Android 12L is based on LineageOS 19.1 and includes the latest March 2022 security patch. An important benefit is that this version is also compatible with the Raspberry Pi 400, a mini ARM PC.
The Android 12L on the Raspberry Pi isn't the only feat to be praised, as the developers also ported the Android TV 12 to the mini ARM PC.
