Born in October 1935, Wang Jingzhu graduated from Suzhou Fine Arts School in 1952 and has served as an animation designer, producer, and screenwriter at Bayi Film Studio and Pearl River Film Studio.
After Wang Jingzhu began to engage in film screenwriting, she has created and produced a large number of excellent film and television works, mainly including the movies "Plum Blossom Towel", "The New Biography of AChao", "Women's Street", "Juvenile Offender", "White Powder Sister", "Hong Kong Escapee", "Special Zone Migrant Girl", "Dragon Out to sea", etc., as well as TV series "Rag King" and "Lingnan Spring and Autumn".
Among them, the film "Plum Blossom Towel" won the Golden Eagle Honorary Award of the First Manila International Film Festival, "The New Biography of A Mixed" won the Special Award of the Fifth Chinese Film "Golden Rooster Award", and "Juvenile Offender" won the Best Film Award of the Ninth Chinese Film "Hundred Flowers Award".
Before Wang Jingzhu won the Guangdong Literature and Art Lifetime Achievement Award, she also won the "Chinese Film Screenwriter Lifetime Achievement Award" of the China Film and Literature Society and the second and fourth Guangdong Lu Xun Literary and Art Awards.
In that year, during his work in bayi factory, Wang Jingzhu and Zhang Liang, played by "Dong Cunrui", knew and fell in love, and entered into marriage in 1961. Her husband, Zhang Liang, once said that he had three successful choices in his life, one of which was to choose his beloved wife Wang Jingzhu.
As the first generation of filmmakers cultivated by New China, Wang Jingzhu attributed her love for movies to gratitude for the times. In 2013, her autobiographical memoir,"A Lifetime of Obsession," was published by Flower City Press.
