Benfica beat Ajax 1-0. In the 7th minute of the game, Alai scored a goal for Ajax, but the goal was blown away because of the offside. In the 76th minute, Benfica won a free kick on the right side of the field, and Nunez nodded the ball inside the penalty area to give Benfica a 1-0 lead.
In terms of aggregate scores over two legs, Atletico Madrid eliminated Manchester United 2-1 and returned to the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League after two years. Manchester United have missed the Champions League quarterfinals for three consecutive seasons, and Ronaldo has also failed to make further progress in the Champions League for three consecutive years. Benfica eliminated Ajax 3-2 on aggregate to secure another quarter-final spot.
