The 2022 Directors Guild of America Awards ceremony was held at the Hilton Beverly Hotel in Los Angeles, hosted by renowned director Judd Apato.
The highest award at this year's Directors Guild Awards, the Outstanding Theatrical Film Director Award nominations are: Paul Thomas Anderson ("Licorice Pizza"), Kenneth Branagh ("Belfast"), Jane Campion ("Power of Dogs"), Steven Spielberg ("West End Story") and Dennis Villeneuve ("Dune"). Of the five directors, all except Uncle Wei were nominated for the Oscar for Best Director.
Last year, Chinese-American director Zhao Ting won the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Film Director for "No Man's Land," and she won an Academy Award for Best Director shortly thereafter.
Spike Lee won the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards. The awards ceremony was not broadcast live, and Apatul said he felt less stressed and that only people in the room could see his hosting.
In her opening remarks, Screen Actors Guild Awards President Leslie Linka Grat said, "Although 2021 is a bit chaotic, we have produced these incredible works. ”
