Zhuangzi took the fishing rod, did not look at them, and said: "I heard that there was a sacred turtle in the Chu Kingdom, which died three thousand years ago, and the King of Chu wrapped it in brocade and treasured it in the hall of the Zongmiao Temple." Do you think this turtle is willing to die and let people treasure it? Or are you willing to live and wag your tail in muddy water? ”

The heart is undistracted, and it is within its means
Stupid people like to be half-hearted, think that they are all-round, can do anything, do everything, pick up sesame seeds, lose watermelons, and finally empty the bamboo basket; smart people have no distractions, understand that their ability is limited, and put their energy into one thing, so they can do big things well.
Wang Yangming exhorted people to concentrate on the same in the "Records of Transmission and Practice" - "People must grind in things to be able to stand, to be still and fixed, and to move and be fixed." ”
People who can do good things in one thing can successfully stand in society, face the changes in the outside world, as long as the heart is fixed, always do not change their own heart, can find a way to succeed.
During the period of Emperor Wu of Han, the Xiongnu invaded the frontier, and there was a shepherd named Bu Shi who donated half of his family property to the imperial court in order to help the country resist aggression, and Han Wudi sent someone to ask him if he wanted to be an official, but Bu Shi said: "I will only herd sheep, not an official." ”

If everyone can concentrate on doing one thing well, with more than ten years or even decades to do the same thing, even if it is a pinch of mud, this person can achieve great success, because there are too few such people in society, and there are very few people.
Gemstones are precious because they are rare. Recognize yourself and spend your life doing one thing, so that you can reach the pinnacle.

It should be "to the conscience", and success or failure should be in the heart
People treat success and failure, always looking for reasons from external conditions, in fact, this is also the inversion of the horse.
Wang Yangming advocates "to the conscience" in the study of mind, because he believes that seeking truth from external things is upside down, and the truth is in people's hearts, so we should seek inward and dig out the conscience in our hearts.
Wang Yangming also wrote such a poem: "Everyone has their own fixing needle, and the root of wanhua is always in the heart." But he laughed before and saw it upside down, and the branches and leaves looked outside. This is also emphasizing that the human heart is the fundamental that determines the direction of the development of things.
The root of success or failure lies in the heart, and those who insist on conscience are always successful.
Cao Nai was the prime minister of the Ming Dynasty, he used to serve as the "police station chief" in Taihe, and once he caught a female prisoner, who was very impressed with his beautiful appearance. At that time, he was alone in law enforcement, and there was no one else around, so it was even more difficult to suppress the desires in his heart.
Cao Nai thought and thought, he can't know the law and break the law, in a hurry, he had to use paper to write down the 4 big characters of "Cao Nai can't" over and over again, burn it after writing, burn it and write it, repeat it dozens of times, and have been fighting with his own desire until dawn, and there is no confusion.
This kind of concentration laid the foundation for him to achieve the position of prime minister later. Without supervision, Cao Nai had also thought of chaos, but in the end he felt that it should not be chaotic. The final non-disorder is the result of the final triumph of morality and conscience over selfish desires.
Confucianism believes that "gentlemen are cautious and independent", and the more they do not have the supervision of others, the more they must maintain their conscience. For modern people, it is almost impossible to do, and now people advocate timely pleasure and satisfy material desires, so it is difficult to maintain conscience at all times.
This mentality of only satisfying material desires cannot be wrong, but it will definitely hinder yourself from succeeding.
Man's own energy is already very limited, and he also spends a lot of time on the pursuit of material pleasures, in contrast, the energy that can be used to do great things is less, and the time span to be spent is longer.
For example, if a person who could originally produce a book a year, it would take three or five years for a person with a lot of flowers and intestines to finish it, or even write it in the end, because he gave up for pleasure. This is also the disadvantage of not being able to recognize one's own conscience.
Why has Wang Yangming always advocated "to the conscience"? It is to enable more people to realize the value of their lives.
Too many people now put the cart before the horse, attributing the reason for their failure to family conditions or luck, which is obsessive. On the other hand, there are also people in society who are born with disabilities, poor families, and ultimately achieve great things, just because they can stick to their own hearts.
