It is a common phenomenon in today's rural areas for the elderly to go to the fields to do farm work. But 80-year-old blind people still have to go to the field to plant crops, which is relatively rare.
In Tongmu Village, Maoshui Town, Qianjiang District, Chongqing City, there is an 82-year-old blind man who is doing farm work and housework. Although his eyes could not see, his hands and legs were like a pair of bright eyes, allowing him to move freely in the dark world, comparable to a normal person.
I had long heard that there was such a strange man, and in order to witness the rumors in the countryside, I went to his house to see what was going on.

The first time I saw him was in a slope. The old man took a hoe, flew up and down, and was hoeing the ground. The old man said that the land was ready to be planted with corn.
Planting corn requires sowing, fertilization, weeding and many other processes, as an old man who is blind in both eyes and has no sense of light at all, how to do it, it is really curious.
The old man's name is Wu Yun'an, and he is 82 years old this year. As early as the age of 6, due to eye inflammation, resulting in blindness.
In the early days, there was still some sense of light, and slowly, there was no sense of light at all, and since then, he has lived completely in a dark world.
The eyes are broken, but people still have to live, so his parents let him learn to do some things, and when he was about ten years old, he basically learned to do housework and some simple farm work.
After the death of his parents, he began to live alone and slowly mastered some special skills.
◆Strong sense of direction
Ordinary blind people must walk slowly with the help of crutches when walking. Wu Yun'an walks, if he is near home, he does not need a crutch at all, whether it is uphill or downhill, he also walks freely.
He went down the mountain at least once a month to catch up with the market, buying daily necessities and receiving living allowances for the five-insured personnel. His home is at least 15 kilometers from the market town, and it is all steep mountain roads, which are very difficult to walk.
Walking on such a mountain road, he never lost his way, and he would also cut paths and short paths. Later, when the road was built, some of the paths were dug up, and he still wouldn't take the wrong road. Where to go up, where to go down, he knows very well.
◆ Tactile identification
It is not difficult for Wu Yun'an to go up the mountain to collect firewood, the most powerful thing is that he can go up the mountain to collect medicine, tianma, folded ear root, continuous break, fine spices, horseshoe incense, artemisia annua, honeysuckle, five-fold seed and other medicinal materials he has collected. Sometimes in order to find the medicinal materials he needed, he needed to travel more than ten miles through the mountains, climb several mountains, and know exactly what medicinal herbs were on what mountains.
The way to identify medicinal materials, one is to touch with your hands, the other is to smell the smell of plants with your nose, and using this method to identify medicinal materials has always been accurate.
Wu Yun'an is both a disabled person and a five-insured household, and he is elderly. In view of his situation, the local civil affairs department decided to take him to live in a nursing home. The old man was unwilling, and after many persuasions from the staff and village cadres, he reluctantly agreed.
In the nursing home, there is nothing to do every day, idle and boring, and I am extremely unaccustomed to the life of serving people. It didn't take long for him to return home on his own, chop wood and carry water, cook rice on the fire, and do some farm work in the field, so that he would feel very relaxed.
Now, the old man has a monthly living allowance of more than 1,000 yuan, enough for his life alone, coupled with the social caring people often to care for him, comfort him, so that his life is carefree, the old man feels very content.
Although his eyes could not see at all, his heart was full of light.
