The "Niu Faction" founded by Niu Decao changed people's perception of the clown of Yu opera and made the clown an elegant art. His performance style is humorous and funny, and his singing voice is interesting and beautiful, which is loved by Yu opera lovers nationwide
Niu Decao (1933 – May 30, 1998), a native of Kaifeng City, Henan Province, was a famous Yu opera performance artist. Like Chang Xiangyu, Niu Decao is loved by Yu opera lovers nationwide. He is highly skilled, good at clowns, singing witty and humorous, and has his own genre.
Niu Decao grew up poor and did not receive a systematic formal education. But he has a great characteristic, that is, he is good at learning and diligent in research. He can soberly realize "who to learn, what to learn, how much to learn", and learn from the strengths of hundreds of families through learning, and finally form his own artistic characteristics.
Niu Decao was 10 years old, he worshiped Li Xiaoyao as a teacher and entered the door of the clown; at the age of 24, he worshiped Xiao Changhua as a teacher, and the level of performing arts was greatly improved, and the two masters were as kind as a mountain to Niu Decao. Niu Decao met his brother Gao Xingwang in Kaifeng when he was 15 years old, and learned new dramas and ugly performances from him, and the story of the brothers singing "Borrow Boots" on stage and "Really Borrowing Boots" behind the stage was a good story for a while. In 1962, Xiaomen's brother Yuan Shihai came to Hebi to offer condolences and performances, and Niu Decao regarded him as a teacher, humbly asked for advice, and did not miss any learning opportunity.
In the early days of the founding of New China, the Kaifeng Peace Drama Society, where Niu Decao was located, often had famous characters such as Chen Suzhen, Chang Xiangyu, Ma Jinfeng, Gao Xingwang, and Li Xianbin come to sing operas, and niu Decao, who was 18 years old at the time, became a follower of these artists, constantly asking this and that, and learning from the famous horns like hunger. In particular, the famous ugly Li Xianbin, who recites ancient poems in his mouth, uses them freely in the play. This shocked Niu Decao greatly, and he began to make up his mind to study and asked a teacher to learn ancient Chinese traditional culture. He constantly draws nourishment from peking opera, Sichuan opera, Pu opera, opera, Yue tone, two strings and other large and small dramas. Niu Decao himself sang official ugliness, but constantly learned the performances of the people's ugly, the prince ugly, the doll ugly, the square scarf ugly, and the silly old clown, drawing on and absorbing the essence of the old students, the little students, and other industries, and integrating into their own performances.
In 1979, he directed and starred in the play "Tangzhi County Trial Commandment", which won the first prize for creation and the first prize for performance in the gift performance for the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. After the drama was filmed as the movie "Seven Pin Sesame Officer", it won the "Hundred Flowers Award" and "Best Story Award" of the fourth "Popular Film". Hong Kong's Ta Kung Pao and foreign friends called him "Chaplin of the East".

Niu Decao's hard life experience in his youth and youth was very inspiring for him to create the image of Tang Cheng, the seven sesame officials. The theme of "when officials do not make decisions for the people, it is better to go home and sell sweet potatoes" is also extracted from the people's lives.
Niu Decao is such a well-known people's artist, who devoted his life to the art of opera and created the Yu opera clown cattle school art that has been in the history of Chinese theater.
