Samantha ChristoFredi was born on April 26, 1977 in Milan, Italy. In May 2009, at the age of 32, Samantha passed the European Space Agency's selection to become Italy's first female astronaut. In 2012, she was assigned as an accompanying engineer for the Soyuz TMA-15M spacecraft and was part of the 42/43rd Expedition to the International Space Station. On November 23, 2014, she flew a space mission to the International Space Station for 200 days.
