The Qilin Dance is a vernacular art that has been baptized by wind and rain for hundreds of years and is still passed down on this volcanic rock in the Yangshan area of Haikou. Based on the legendary unicorn image, gait and movements, she performed in the art form by the marshal of the dance team, the family yard, the land lord and the four heavenly soldiers.
The earliest Qilin dance in the mainland began in the Central Plains, and by the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the Qilin dance was brought into Hainan with the ancestors of Qianqiong, and the Yangshan area around Haikou was the most prosperous.
Years wash away the lead. Today, the Qilin Dance has only been passed down in the villages of Changru, Wuqia, and Rudong in Yongxing Town, Xiuying District, and has become a unique local traditional cultural factor on this volcanic rock. In Changru Village, Yongxing Town, there is still a Qilin dance team, as well as a group of old artists and inheritors of the Qilin dance who are persistently pursuing and persevering. At present, the "Hainan Qilin Dance" has been listed as the intangible cultural heritage of Haikou City, and Changru Village has also been listed as the intangible cultural heritage inheritance village of Haikou City, and a Qilin Dance Transmission Base has been established, and a group of young Qilin Dance team members have been trained.
In the historical inheritance and evolution, the Qilin Dance of Changru Village has also integrated into the local culture, integrated into the local customs and the forms that the people like to hear, and has become the main celebration activity of the villagers in Yangshan area in the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Gong Period, and Mother-in-law Period, hoping for a prosperous and auspicious life, and the peak period of performance is the peak period of performance every year from the sixth to the fifteenth lantern festival of the first lunar month.
