C Romedi joined forces but the future is uncertain: different styles are difficult to be compatible, and it is difficult to compete for the championship due to the decline in status

Cristiano Ronaldo is trying to move from Manchester United to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, a scenario that will almost certainly happen if the Red Devils fail to reach the top four of the Premier League. Such a deal would create attractive prospects for the Portuguese to have a great partnership with Messi in the same team. The duo have long enjoyed a competition that makes football fans around the world both happy and divided, so the prospect of playing together in the City of Light for a year is mouth-watering. Of course, from the point of view of Greater Paris, it will be a profitable option: there are almost no more market-worthy players on the planet than Messi and Ronaldo, so putting them in a team will bring in a very substantial commercial income.

On the pitch, though, people are certainly skeptical about how they work together. After all, the two men's playing styles are diametrically opposed. Messi is considered an artist and Ronaldo is considered a goal machine. The former is a natural talent, and the latter activates every bit of his potential by dedicating his life to the sport. Argentines are seen as team members and Portuguese are seen as individual heroes. But despite these differences, there are also similarities: their abilities, their goals, and their huge success year after year. Both have occupied the spotlight of their respective camps in their respective careers. Notably, the Argentine has looked awkward at some point this season as Mbappe has pushed him off a cliff, though the Frenchman's predictable departure will open the door for Ronaldo to join the Parc des Princes.

There is also the question of whether the two players are ready to make one last effort for European honours again. Messi is 35 and Ronaldo is 37, and while both are at top level, they both have experienced their toughest seasons in more than a decade, is it really a coincidence? In addition to the connection between Messi and Ronaldo, there is also the question of whether they can integrate into a team that works properly. Paris Saint-Germain have proven this season that just having three superstar players doesn't guarantee a smooth offensive end in the case of Messi, Mbappe and Neymar. Perhaps all these questions and doubts allow Ronaldo and Messi to play their best. Of course, at the final stages of their careers, from a football point of view, few people will think that combining them is a very good idea. For neutral fans, though, it's going to be fun to see Messi and Ronaldo play for the same team in the top flight.
