After moving from the arena to the stands, as the only judo athlete in China to win the Olympic championship for the second time, Xian Dongmei promoted the popularity of judo as a triple. In the face of the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, her only belief is that she hopes that the two-time women's judo Olympic gold medal can return to China again.

At the National Judo Championships being held in Taiyuan, Shanxi, Xian Dongmei appeared as the president of the Chinese Judo Association. Looking forward to Tokyo, Sin Dongmei was quite confident in her words.

Ma Zhenzhao, Yang Junxia, Xu Shiyan and Wang Yan are the Chinese female soft players who blurted out by Xian Dongmei, and unlike the lightweight level when Xian Dongmei won the Olympic championship in that year, the current Chinese female soft players show a big level advantage.

"The big level has always been the dominant sport of Chinese women's judo, and after many years, the 78 kg team members represented by Ma Zhenzhao and Xu Shiyan are still expected to win gold and silver at the Tokyo Olympic Games, but there are still great challenges." Sin Dongmei said. Historically, Zhuang Xiaoyan, Tong Wen and Yang Xiuli have all been Olympic champions in major events.

At the 2021 World Judo Grand Slam Tournament in Antalya, which ended just a week ago, Xu Shiyan won the silver medal in the women's over-78 kg competition. At the World Judo Grand Slam tournament in Tbilisi, Georgia, held in March, Ma Zhenzhao finished third in the 78 kg category.

As the director of the Guangdong Provincial Heavy Competitive Sports Training Center, Sin Dongmei has been committed to bringing judo to the campus. Cuishan Lake Experimental School in Kaiping City, Guangdong Province, is a local judo school, and Xian Dongmei has visited such special schools many times to promote the development of judo among young people.

Sin Dongmei said that at present, there are about 70 or 80 judo schools in China, and there are nearly 300 judo clubs of various types. "That's a dozen times more than in 2008." Sin Dongmei believes that judo associations at all levels, as a platform, should cultivate more coaching teams, which for schools and clubs not only solves the problem of specialization, but also solves the problem of reemployment of retired athletes.

In September 2018, the International Judo Federation held a ceremony to enter the Hall of Fame in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and Xian Dongmei became the first Chinese to be inducted into the International Judo Hall of Fame. In April 2019, Xian Dongmei was elected vice president of the Asian Judo Alliance, and in the face of this third identity, Xian Dongmei admitted that the burden on her body was heavier.

"Judo taught me to be humble and made me constantly challenge myself and believe in myself. It has made me and educated me, so it will have me today. In the future, I am willing to make greater contributions to Chinese judo and judo to the world. Sin Dongmei said.

Born in 1975, Xian Dongmei is the first Chinese athlete to win the Olympic judo championship consecutively, not only won the gold medal in the 52 kg category at the Athens Olympic Games, but also successfully defended the Beijing Olympic champion after her comeback, becoming the first champion mother in China's Olympic history. In 2009, Sin Dongmei reached the top again at her fifth National Games, after which Sin Dongmei officially announced her retirement. (End)
