The "Xiangsheng Dictionary" records that Hou Baolin had an apprentice named Li Wenshan Is it Li Wenshan of the Deyun Society?

author:Xiao Tao

In the previous cross-talk article, Xiao Tao talked about Hou Baolin's apprentice. Some people claimed to be Hou Baolin's apprentices, but in fact they were only Hou Baolin's students, and some were not even students. So the question is, how many apprentices does Hou Baolin have? Who are his true apprentices?

Crosstalk master Hou Baolin

The Great Dictionary of Cross-Talk is the first and only cross-talk reference book in China. The editor-in-chief of this book is the famous music theorist Xue Baokun. Xue Baokun worked with Hou Baolin for a long time and was later transferred to Nankai University as a professor. In addition to the editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief, there is also an editorial board, which has a total of 28 members, including Hou Baolin's apprentice Ding Guangquan, Hou Baolin's daughter Hou Zheng, as well as Li Lishan, Zhang Zhikuan, Liu Wei and other famous cross-talkers. Its authority is unquestionable. Here Xiao Tao would like to say more, Hou Zheng is not only a member of the editorial board, but also one of the "character" contributors.

For Hou Baolin's apprentices, the "Hou Baolin" entry in the Xiangsheng Dictionary lists 15 people, namely Jia Zhenliang, Huang Tieliang, Yang Ziyang, Ma Ji, Li Wenshan, Hu Bida, Yin Peitian, Jia Jiguang, Ding Guangquan, Kang Dafu, Li Rugang, Wu Zhaonan, Yu Shiyou, Hao Aimin, and Shi Shengjie.

Behind Ma Ji is Li Wenshan. Li Wenshan was once partnered with Hao Aimin. After retirement, Li Wenshan went to Deyun Society to exert his residual heat and was one of the "Four Elders of Deyun". But he was not Hou Baolin's apprentice, his master was Wang Shichen. Xiao Tao has written an article to introduce him, and I will not introduce him here. In addition to Li Wenshan in Beijing, there is another Li Wenshan in the northeast.

Li Wenshan in the northeast originally spoke cross-talk in the Tangshan Qu Art Troupe, and later transferred to the Liaoning Fushun Qu Art Troupe, and finally retired from the Chaoyang Qu Art Troupe. This Chaoyang is a prefecture-level city in Liaoning, not the Chaoyang district of Beijing. There are no qu art troupes in Beijing's Chaoyang district. Li Wenshan in the northeast, his master is not Hou Baolin, but Mu Xianglin. Mu Xianglin was Zhang Shouchen's apprentice.

In this way, the listing of Li Wenshan as Hou Baolin's apprentice should be a clerical error of the character writer of the Xiangsheng Dictionary. Hou Baolin had an apprentice named Li Wenxin (also written as "Li Wenxin"). Xiao Tao judged that the writer must have mistakenly written "Li Wenxin" as "Li Wenshan". Li Wenxin, who studied under Hou Baolin in 1962, unfortunately died in the Tangshan earthquake.

Hou Baolin was with his disciples Jia Zhenliang, Ding Guangquan and others, and in the upper right corner was Dashan

According to the "Annals of Hou Baolin", the specific time of Hou Baolin's acceptance of disciples is as follows:

In 1950, Jia Zhenliang and Huang Tieliang were accepted as apprentices;

In 1957, He Collected Ma Ji and Yang Ziyang as apprentices;

In 1961, he was accepted as an apprentice by Shiyou and Hao Aimin;

In 1962, He took Li Wenxin as an apprentice;

In 1963, Hu Bida was adopted as an apprentice;

In 1966, he took Yin Peitian as an apprentice;

In 1973, he received Ding Guangquan as an apprentice;

In 1978, he took Jia Jiguang as an apprentice;

In 1982, Wu Zhaonan was adopted as an apprentice.

In 1984, he took Kang Dafu, Li Rugang and Shi Shengjie as apprentices.

In the order of worship, Hou Baolin's eldest disciple was Jia Zhenliang. There are different theories about Jia Zhenliang's time of worship. Another theory is that it was not 1950, but 1949. If this statement is reliable, then Jia Zhenliang worshiped the master a year earlier than Huang Tieliang, and he is even more worthy of the master brother.

Kang Dafu and Li Rugang

Kang Dafu and Li Rugang are a pair. They visited in April 1984, and Shi Shengjie received his education in July of the same year. Shi Shengjie was Hou Baolin's closed disciple, and they became Shi Shengjie's brothers. Li Rugang was a pre-Cultural Revolution university student and was assigned to work at the Handan Textile Machinery Factory. Because of his love of cross-talk, he was transferred to the Handan Municipal Literary troupe and began to partner with Kang Dafu. In 1979, they were transferred to the Hebei Provincial Qu Art Troupe together, and soon became popular throughout the province.

In addition to the above 15, Hou Baolin also accepted Han Ning as an apprentice in 1979 (another theory is 1981) and Jin Yi as an apprentice in 1986. The matter of Jin Yi worshiping the master, Xiao Tao has already said in the previous article on the theme of cross-talk, and I will not repeat it here. Han Ning was originally a cross-talk actor in a propaganda team of the Chengdu Military Region, and was later transferred to the Armed Police Cultural and Labor Corps. In the "Xiangsheng Dictionary" "Hou Baolin" entry, Han Ning was not listed as Hou Baolin's apprentice, but there was such a sentence in the "Han Ning" entry: "In 1979, Hou Baolin was worshiped as a teacher."

For Hou Baolin's apprentices, Hou Baolin's second son Hou Yaohua also had a list in his hand. According to him, the list was "repeatedly verified" by him. Two years ago, Hou Yaohua published the list when he was a guest on CCTV's "Chinese Literature and Art", and there were 20 people in total. Among them, Li Weixin and Liu Guangying counted as Hou Baolin's students, Dong Fengtong belonged to the Daila beginner, and the other 17 were hou Yaohua's recognized apprentices of his father, including Han Ning, as well as Liu Zufa, Yao Zhenhuan (also written as "Yao Zhenhuan") and Guo Changyi, Guo Changyi was the father of the sketch actor Guo Donglin, but there was no jinyi, no Hao Aimin and Yu Shiyou. Without Jin Yi, it is completely reasonable; without Hao Aimin and Yu Shiyou, it is somewhat unexpected.

Before his death, Hou Baolin wrote a handwritten list of his disciples, acknowledging that Yu Shiyou, Yao Zhenhuan, Lin Peirui, Li Tiancheng, and Bao Songnian were his apprentices. The latter three, whether it is the "Cross-Talk Dictionary" or Hou Yaohua, have not been mentioned. Lin Peirui is in the United States, although Bao Songnian is in China, but there is no fame, Li Tiancheng, a little well-known, because he once served as the deputy head of the Xi'an Qu Art Troupe. Hou Yaohua's list includes Yao Zhenhuan, but not Yu Shiyou. Yu Shiyou is Hou Baolin's apprentice, there should be no controversy, the controversy should be Hao Aimin. As for whether Hao Aimin is Hou Baolin's apprentice or not, due to the relationship of space, Xiao Tao will not elaborate here. If you want to see it, Xiao Tao will write an article about this matter in the future.

The reason why Hou Baolin's disciples have always been controversial is that Xiao Tao should say that there are both historical reasons and man-made factors. Many of Hou Baolin's disciples were disciples of the Koumeng, and some were appointed by the leaders, which laid the groundwork for future disputes. In fact, for people who love to listen to crosstalk, it does not matter who is not, what matters is who really inherits Hou's crosstalk.
