On March 4, Beijing time, the NBA officially announced the 18th MVP list of the season. The top 5 in this week's list have not changed much in terms of personnel and rankings, and the top 4 are the same as last week. Jokic has been at the top of the list for three consecutive weeks, with Embiid, Alphabet Brother and DeRozan still in 2nd to 4th place. Curry slipped from No. 5 last week to No. 8 and was replaced by Morant, the first time he's been in the top 5 of the MVP list this season. Here's a detailed report.
1. Jokic, Nuggets (ranked No. 1 last week)
Season average: 25.4 points, 13.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game
Jokic has led the team to a record of 2 wins and 1 loss over the past week. Facing the Kings, he finished his 16th triple-double of the season. Facing the Blazers, he played 26 minutes and scored eight points, 18 rebounds and 11 assists in a large quasi-triple-double, leading the team to a big victory. Against the Thunder, he was the only player in the starting lineup to play normally, scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Jokic has always been omnipotent in this arena.
2. Embiid, 76ers (2nd last week)
Season average: 29.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1 steal, 1.5 blocks
Since Harden joined the 76ers, Embiid has become more comfortable on the court. He has scored 34, 37 and 27 points in his last three games, and the team currently has four straight wins to head to the top of the Eastern Conference. Embiid scored a staggering 27 free throws in his away game against the Knicks. With Harden's help, Embiid will have no qualms about storming the regular season MVP.
3. Alphabet Brother, Bucks (ranked 3rd last week)
Season average: 29.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, 1.4 blocks
Alphabet's performance is still impeccable, he has 29 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists, 26 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 blocks and 28 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists in the past three games, he is still a strong contender for this award, and the Bucks are currently ranked 4th in the East, only one win away from 2nd and 3rd.
4. DeRozan, Bulls (ranked 4th last week)
Season average: 28.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game
The Bulls have had a poor record over the past week, suffering three straight losses. DeRozan scored 31 points against the Grizzlies, ending his personal record of 35+ in a row. Then, in the game against the Heat, he only scored 18 points, and his personal record of 30+ was ended. The Bulls are currently overtaken by the 76ers, ranking No. 3 in the East, with the Bucks and Celtics behind them all eyeing the tiger. DeRozan needs to play better on the field in order to secure the team's position.
5. Morant, Grizzlies (ranked 7th last week)
Season average: 27.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.2 steals
Morant is definitely the most surprising player of the past week. He scored 46 and 52 consecutive points against the Bulls and Spurs, setting new personal scoring records. He always hit incredible shots in the game and delivered exciting dunks. Even though he didn't play well in the first half against the Celtics, scoring just eight points on 3-of-14 shooting, he was able to adjust to his form and score 30 points in the second half, scoring 38 points. Morant is gradually becoming the new card face of the league.
