In the open world of Eldon's Ring of Law, you'll find tons of different weapons, and the double-edged sword is arguably the best weapon for dexterity and high quality early in the game with a melee focus. With its excellent damage and excellent action combination, the double-edged sword will take you through the first few stages of the game – especially when you level it up.
The best thing about double-edged swords, though, is that you can get them effortlessly within 5 minutes of starting the game. Here's a quick guide, including where to find it and what properties you need to use it.
How do I get a double-edged sword?
The location of the double-edged sword is very close to the starting area of the game, but you will need to find three blessing points in Limgrave to get your mount Torrent to start. Once you've unlocked your mount, walk directly east from the Blessing Point to the Ruins of Dragon's Breath (pictured above). In order to reach the location of the double-edged sword, you need to go to the south side of the ruins and double-jump over the high wall there with Torrent.
Behind these walls there is a staircase that leads to a secret room with treasure chests. Open the chest to get a double-edged sword. You can then double-jump back to the wall with Torrent, or quickly cross to the blessing point and leave the area.
Properties of a double-edged sword
To use a double-edged sword, you need at least 10 strength and 18 dexterity, which means that if you're playing a newly created character, you may need to improve your dexterity a bit. The weapon starts with a strength and dexterity ratio of D, but the scale increases when you upgrade the weapon with the Blacksmith Stone. If you want your weapon to be better proportioned to other stats, you can also change the proportion of your weapon by using war ashes.
The double-edged sword is better than many other early game weapons because of its high damage and fast attack speed, especially when you use it with both hands. This weapon can quickly deal fatal damage, but it's important to note that it doesn't surprise you too much, and you can easily be knocked out by big bosses and PvP players using heavy weapons (such as Zweihander) and lose combo ability.
