Geological culture village The elderly embrace the mountain of wealth

Trainee reporter Li Ting correspondent Shen Rong

This October, Ma Zhanghua, a 61-year-old villager in Baiyankeng Village, Shihuang Town, Shengzhou City, Shaoxing, was busy and happy. During the National Day holiday, the homestay he opened was booked out as early as a month ago. During the harvest season in October, a large area of fragrant woods managed by Ma Zhanghua's family has matured, and the homestay operation has also broadened the sales channels for fragrant trees and tea leaves.

Baiyankeng Village is the country's first geological and cultural village, with a unique geological relics landscape and rich tea and fragrant resources, there are more than 2,000 fragrant trees over 100 years old. How to turn rural beauty into a path to riches? In 2012, Ma Zhanghua started a country house and became one of the first people in the village to eat crabs. At that time, however, the cultivation and sale of fragrant and tea was still his main business.

As short-distance tours become more and more popular, Baiyankeng Village welcomes tourists from all over the world. At the beginning of this year, Ma Zhanghua and his wife handed over the external tea and fragrant tobacco business to their son Ma Di to take care of, and the couple shifted their focus to the homestay business. Ma Zhanghua's homestay is not a single model, but the sales of characteristic agricultural products are connected with the operation of the homestay, the tourists are introduced through geological culture, the tourists are left through the homestay operation, and the "poetry and far away" of the White Goose Pit is spread through the Fragrant Culture. Ma Zhanghua said that such a path is sustainable, and the green water and green mountains are really rich mountains.

It is understood that since baiyankeng village started the construction of geological and cultural village in 2014, dozens of homestays have been opened in the village. Many of them are villagers who originally only returned to the village to harvest in the fragrant season, and they calculated that they had reached retirement age and returned to the village to open a homestay, which was both a pension and an increase in income. At present, 4 of the 21 homestays opened in Baiyankeng Village are run by elderly people over the age of 60. While enjoying a happy old age, they also contribute to the construction of a common prosperity demonstration zone for high-quality development.

Si Borong, secretary of the village branch of Baiyankeng Village, said that Baiyankeng Village is a geological and cultural village integrating the protection of geological relics, the production and marketing of characteristic agricultural products, and the development of cultural and tourism resources. Next, the village plans to build a comprehensive geological and cultural museum that integrates tourist reception and science popularization, and at the same time develop geological and cultural theme homestays to attract more tourists and let the villagers stay and get rich.
