What was your first impression of Formula FE?

"Exceeded my expectations! To be honest, I had already communicated with several active drivers before entering the FE and they didn't find it much fun. But to my surprise, the FE made me feel better than I thought, especially on the narrow street circuit of Dilier, which felt very good. Of course, the FE car is a little slower than the F3 car due to the weight, but I have to say that it is still a very good single-seater car. ”

What are the main differences between FE racing and F2 racing?

"The only similarity is the four wheels and some power composition! They're completely different – for example, F2 cars use skinheads, while FE cars are different, and there are many more that we can sit here all day and discuss the differences between them. There are also big differences in driving styles, especially in the energy recovery mechanism during the race. As I said before, FE cars are still single-seaters, so FE will have some similarities with other Formula races, but overall they are very different. ”

What are your thoughts on this season's new edition of qualifying?

"I think this qualifying format is special and hopefully this year we will have the opportunity to participate in the final stages of the duo. In terms of this qualifying format alone, I was skeptical when I first heard about it. Unfortunately, I only participated in the first stage of the competition in Dilier, but even though I could only watch the other drivers' races as a spectator afterwards, I still felt the fun! I think that's what FE is all about – it's made some big changes and innovations that we were skeptical at first, but the results often prove that most of these changes are valuable. I think the new qualifying format is a good idea – I believe that these bold, positive attempts can make the game more enjoyable, and after continuous upgrading and iteration, it will make the FE game more and more exciting. ”

How does the energy management mechanism affect you in Formula FE competitions? There are a lot of riders who think it's a hard part.

"To be honest, it's a question of iq testing. During the course of the game, one must choose how to respond to the game with tact, and one must constantly adapt to various changes on the field. When using a racing simulator, you can reach your goal more or less every lap, but in a formal race, if you get into a fight with someone else, you may consume too much energy in that lap, and then you need to pay attention to this problem for the next ten to fifteen laps. I love this energy recovery mechanism, and as long as you keep your head cool and deal with it in a logical way, you can feel a lot of fun in it. ”

Can The Attack Mode in FE be compared to DRS in F2? Or are they two very different concepts?

"Attack Mode and DRS are two very different concepts. The overall idea of Attack Mode is to disrupt the tempo of the game within a few laps, lose position in exchange for higher power, and then improve your position as much as possible in a limited amount of time, which I think is a really great idea. For me, the only key point is how the event defines the time to return to the race, in general, since losing a few places with Attack Mode is nothing for the driver, but from the audience point of view, it is indeed more ornamental, and DRS is a powerful auxiliary, their principles and use are completely different. ”

As a two-time Macau F3 champion, how hard is it to concentrate on a narrow and compact street track? Does the FE event, which is also played on the street, give you a similar feeling?

"It's very difficult to race in Macau and I've never experienced a circuit like there, extremely mentally challenging. I love the 'difficult' track, where the more talented you are, the more you can make a difference, it's as simple as that. Even though that was a few years ago and now feels like a distant memory, it still impresses me. In Dilier, some of the quick bends are similar to Macau's — both need to squeeze the last few centimeters as close to the wall as possible to make the next section smoother. ”
