There is a paper mill in Baoji, Shaanxi, which witnesses the history of the ancient Chen Cang

Not only Zhou Yuan, but also about the ancient history and culture of Baoji, the ancient bow fish country is a very unique existence. Passing by the Xiguan Paper Mill in the downtown area, I took a few photos, where the Yujian Fort is lined with high-rise buildings in the south and the Wei Canal winds through on the north side.

According to the data, in the early years of the Ming Dynasty, the villagers around the paper mill opened many paper workshops, and at the same time, one end of the village was the edge of the earth cliff, and people called the place where the paper workshop was opened at the top of the head as the paper mill head, which has been used to this day.

Local people say that they don't know when there were paper mills, but they remember that in the 1970s and 1980s, there were many papermaking workshops in the village. These papermaking workshops are generally based on families, and their residence is also where they work. Some farmers follow the traditional practice of using the material from the bark of the mountain, a shrub that is found all over the mountain and on the edge of the field. Spring is the season of mining raw materials. The bark collected must be soaked in lime water and other processes before it can be made into various papers.

As for the papermaking workshops that have been recorded in history since the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, no one in the local area can say clearly. In fact, during the Wei and Jin Dynasties, with the promotion of papermaking in Shaanxi, the papermaking workshops at the head of the paper mill also mushroomed and developed, and the handmade papermaking industry here reached its peak in the Qing Dynasty.

However, due to the old fashion, the paper industry has long stayed at the level of traditional handmade papermaking, and the papermaking workshop has disappeared little by little.

It was not until September 1981 that due to heavy rain for several days, a cave in the village of Paper Fangtou collapsed and a batch of bronzes was found. After rescue and cleaning, it was confirmed that it was a large Western Zhou tomb, and the excavated artifacts included bronze ceremonial vessels, living utensils and ornaments. According to the owner of the cave, when the cave was dug in 1926, the cave room passed through the bottom of the tomb, and 4 bronzes and a large number of jade objects had been excavated, which were acquired by antique dealers and their whereabouts were unknown.

Today's paper mill is the location of the Xiguan Street Office, and Figures 2 and 3 should be the old buildings of the former troops or the former riveting factory.
