A mountain does not tolerate two tigers, which is the conclusion reached by people after observing natural phenomena and extending them to human society.

One mountain can accommodate two tigers, and two "tigresses" can also

(The picture is my calligraphy study, please ask for advice!) )

In nature, "one mountain does not tolerate two tigers" is the result of natural selection, because in a specific area (a mountain), resources are limited, and it is difficult to support two behemoths. In human society, although "one mountain does not tolerate two tigers" also has natural attributes, it is more a reflection of the selfishness and greed of some human beings - obviously they can live in harmony, but in order to monopolize resources or avoid the other party from threatening their own position, they have to make a fuss about you and me, there is you without me, there is me without you.

Some people say: One mountain does not allow two tigers, unless there is a male and a female. Although it is a joke, it is also in line with the facts, after all, there is basically no homogeneous competitive relationship between male and female, living together in a mountain, but can complement each other, communicate with each other, and get more enjoyment and happiness from interdependence.

Some people say: One mountain does not allow two tigers, especially one mountain does not allow two tigresses. This may seem to be fraught with prejudice against female animals, but many times it is also true. Male animals compete for territory, "sovereignty", and the driving force is innate possessiveness; while the competition between female animals, in addition to the consideration of specific interests, is also jealous, and the latter, once attacked, is more terrible than the competition for real interests. With all due respect, whether it is a vivid depiction in a literary work or a vivid demonstration in real life, it is fully demonstrated that when female animals eat vinegar, they are all earth-shattering and ghostly, and there is no reason and reason to speak of.

However, there are exceptions to everything, and it is not uncommon for a mountain to accommodate two tigers and a mountain to accommodate two "tigresses". Today, let me give you an example of the Spring and Autumn Period.

In Liu Xiang's "Biography of Zhenshun" in the Biography of The Daughters of Lie, the story of "Wei Zong'er shun" is recorded. "Ershun" refers to two people, namely the wife of King Ling of The Wei Dynasty and the concubine of Fu. The two get along well, respect each other, and are intimate, so they are called "Shun".

King WeiLing had a wife and a concubine, and his wife did not have children, but Concubine Fu gave birth to a son. After the death of the Ling King, the lady was childless and widowed, and the son of the concubine became the lord. According to the model of "palace fighting drama", the mother is precious to the child, and the concubine "turns over and sings the little concubine", which is bound to be arrogant and invincible, and it is necessary to torture the lady fiercely, and even want to put her to death and then quickly. In fact, this scene did not happen in the Wei family, and the concubines still served the lady for eight years, and their attitude was more respectful, and they did not dare to neglect the offerings.

After a long time, Madame was a little overwhelmed. She said to concubine Fu, "The Lord is very kind to me, and you have served me with all your heart, and I feel very afraid." I have heard that the mother of the lord cannot serve others with the courtesy of a concubine. I did not give birth to a son, and according to the rules of etiquette, I was to be thrown out of the house, and it was my good fortune to let me stay and observe the festival for my husband. You have treated me like this and tormented me. I'm willing to go outside and live, and I'll be satisfied if I meet every now and then. ”

Concubine Fu cried and persuaded, "I have also heard that loyal servants and servants are never tired; filial piety serves relatives and only worries about not being able to fulfill filial piety for a long time." How dare I change my principle of doing things because I have a son and get today's small status? Serving you is my duty and obligation, so why should My wife be upset about it? ”

Madame said, "A person like me, who has not given birth to a child, will instead let the mother of the lord serve you, and although you do this sincerely, others will think that I do not know etiquette." I'm still willing to go outside and live. ”

Concubine Fu's persuasion was fruitless, and after retiring, she said to her son, "Madame has to go out to live, I have no way, or I will die!" "So I really wanted to commit suicide. The son cried to stop it, but he couldn't persuade it. When the lady knew about it, she was also worried about what would happen to her, so she agreed to stay and accept the service and support of the concubine. Gentleman: "The two daughters give way to each other, and they are also sincere gentlemen." It can be said that the line is within, and the name stands in the hereafter. ”

The origin of the matter still stems from feudal etiquette. In ancient times, there were "seven out of the rule", that is, seven situations and reasons why a husband could drive his wife away. What are the "seven outs"? Jia Gongyanyun: "Seven outgoings: childless, one also; adulterous, two also; uncles and uncles, three also; tongue, four also; theft, five also; jealousy, six also; evil disease, seven also." There are other versions that sort the seven problems differently, but are much the same, with "childlessness," that is, not being able to have children, all of which are among them, and are an extremely serious situation.

Not being able to have children is a great sin for women, and they will be driven away by their husbands. Filial piety has three, and no queen is greater, which very clearly reflects the humble status of women's "fertility machines". Whoever has children is the "boss" of the family. Even if the lady did not have a son, then her status would immediately plummet, depending on the sniffles of the concubines.

The above rules and systems are not only unreasonable, but also very backward and cruel. However, even in that era and that situation, it is really rare that "Wei Zong Er Shun" can appear, and it can be regarded as a bright light that occasionally shines in the dark age of women. This light, which comes only from the personal human brilliance of the person involved, does not have universality, and cannot bring light to all suffering women, but even after a thousand years, it still makes people feel a little warmth and hope.

One mountain can accommodate two tigers, and two "tigresses" can also. Why should women be embarrassed by women, and it is not better to get along and support each other in harmony? In fact, it is not only women, why are men not like this? Think more openly, be more open-minded, don't always think about dominating the mountain, life will suddenly be open, and the heavens and the earth will appear broader.
