The last time I drank all night and cried on the side of the sofa was fifteen years ago, reading Wang Pihua's "Ancient Golden Weapon Spectrum", using his Chinese jianghu to pour out his youth, love, burial, and farewell blocks.

This is a book about Haruki Murakami written by Mika in the spring of 2021. The first one I opened was called "The Seven Weapons of Haruki Murakami." After all these years, I don't particularly like Haruki Murakami. I can't say why, probably because there is a kind of restraint, calmness and alienation in his writing, and it always feels a little cold to read, like a fluorescent lamp projected on a white wall. But I've always known that the text with a little shadow of "Haruki Murakami" will look very "advanced". For example, the precise numerical description in "And Listen to the Wind", "The story begins on August 8, 1970, and ends 18 days later, that is, on August 26 of the same year", such a quiet sentence, like the blank space in Chinese paintings, has a subtle beauty.

Seeing this, I suddenly understood where my resistance to Murakami and Murakami's attraction to me came from.
The land is heavy, the sky is light, the countryside is heavy, the city is light, the nation is heavy, and the world is light. I don't know why murakami has no baggage and tearing, he is a product of globalization and urbanization, and his alienation and refinement are the result of modern urban industrial civilization. And our generation of "urban population" who grew up in China in the 1980s is actually ignorant of the pre-industrial collectivism, and has left an eternal imprint on cultural aesthetics, land, vernacularity, and nationalism—not because they don't like Murakami, but because they are not familiar with this purely individual, subtle, meaningless emotional narrative in the depths of the soul.
But human nature and emotion itself are common, love and death, sex, alcohol, music, words, and inexplicable coincidences and awe—mercy flowers call them Murakami's "weapons," commonly known as routines, which I felt at first glance and thought so appropriately. Murakami was a gifted craftsman who standardized the elements of content that were least likely to be "standardized" (of course, this was only for him alone). It is also this hidden standardization that has led to the high yield, stable quality, commercial success, and easy circulation of Haruki Murakami. As for the precise description of time that fascinates me, Pihua calls it "the daily life of literary temperament"—my understanding is that this literary temperament is urban, an assembly-line beauty unique to industrial civilization. That kind of stereotyped, precise, repetitive, monotonous hidden rhythm is easy to think of "fate". Wong Kar-wai reveals this "Murakami"-style sense of fatalism in almost every play, such as "You are with me one minute before three o'clock in the afternoon on April 16, because you and I will remember this minute."
