"The Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson: Christopher Lee is a good guy

British actor Christopher Lee died at the age of 93 as Saruman, a white-robed wizard in The Lord of the Rings

Peter Jackson wrote a long article on Facebook in memory of Christopher Lee

I am greatly saddened to learn of the passing away of Sir Christopher Lee. He is 93 years old and has been in trouble for some time, but his indomitable spirit will live on forever.

Christopher speaks 7 languages, and in a sense he is a good man; proficient in medicine, politics, literature, history, and science. He was a scholar, a singer, a very talkative elder, and of course an extraordinary actor. The most enjoyable thing for me was every visit to London with the old man and Gitte (his wife of 54 years), where they always entertained me well and spent hours recounting his legendary experience. I enjoyed listening to them and they were very happy to share.

The most compelling stories they tell are undoubtedly the real-life experiences of serving in the British Air Force Special Forces during World War II, the horror films made at Hammer in the United Kingdom in the 1950s, and the films that he later collaborated with Tim Burton (Guillotine Valley, Black Shadow, etc.), of which he was particularly proud.

I was lucky enough to work with him on a total of 5 films (two Lord of the Rings, three Hobbits), and he was no longer a horror thriller on screen. I remember on my 40th birthday (he was 80 at the time), he said to me, "You have almost half of my charm," half of Christopher Lee's, which far exceeded my expectations. In an age when gentlemanly values were no longer affirmed, he was a true gentleman.

I grew up watching Christopher Lee's films, and I was fascinated by the many iconic roles he played in my life, which he not only created, but let them live on. Along the way, Christopher Lee suddenly and magically "dissipated" and became my friend Chris, and I loved Chris more as a friend.

There will be no second Christopher Lee, not only in the history of cinema, but also in the minds of thousands of fans around the world, he will have a unique place.

The world without him would become somewhat different

Let me extend my sincerest condolences to Gitte and Chris's family and friends

Rest in peace, Chris

Director Tim Burton:

Christopher gave me endless inspiration. I've had the privilege of working with him on five films. There is no one like him again — a true legend — and it's my good fortune to call each other "friends." He will always inspire me, and I believe his story will inspire future generations.

It's a shame to learn that Christopher Lee has passed away. He was a very interesting man, and I used to watch him put a ballpoint pen into a tree trunk. #传奇 #
