Euphoria fans are concerned about many of the characters in the Season 2 finale, including Fezco (Angus Cloud). But according to Zendaya, Rue Bennett will redeem himself. Here's what the actor revealed about his character's fate in Season 2, Episode 8
In the first season of Euphoria, the story focuses on Rue and her addiction. While this is still an important storyline for the second season of the HBO series, Rue's narrative has been replaced by stories about Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney), Maddy (Alexa Demie), Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), and Lexi Howard (Maude Apatow). Many Euphoria fans are upset about the lack of Kat in Season 2, but that's another matter.
Still, although Rue isn't the central character for Euphoria's second season, that doesn't mean she's no longer the lead character. In the middle of the season, fans saw Thatrou experience a dark relapse. Her actions catalyzed the stories of other characters in Season 2, including Cassie and Maddy's broken friendship and the story told in Lexi's show.
Fans will get a "sense of redemption" for Rue in Episode 8 of Season 2 of "Euphoria"
Many Euphoria fans believe Rue looks "clean and sober" sitting in Lexi's theater audience (from Reddit). As Zendaya told The Cut, it's all part of Rue's arc of redemption.
"Episode 8 is where we get a sense of redemption," Zandaya told the media. "You're not the worst thing you've ever done in your life. I think Rue deserves it, and I think anyone who suffers the same thing as her deserves it. ”
The Season 2 finale of 'Euphoria' was almost a "very different" direction for Rue
In an interview with The Cut, the Emmy-winning actor admitted that Season 2 initially had a darker conclusion. "The season will end very differently," Zandaya explained.
She continued: "Then halfway through, [Euphoria creator] Sam [Levinson] said to me, 'We can't leave Rue here.'" We have to put some hope in this show. By episode 6, Rue began stitching her life back together, preparing fans for what was to come in the Season 2 finale.
The filming of season 2 of the HBO series placed a lot of physical demands on Zendaya
In season 2 episode "Standing Firm Like a Hummingbird", Rue is furious when she learns that her mother (Nika Kim) has flushed a suitcase full of drugs down the toilet. For Zendaya, filming that episode was "a very tough day."
"I mean, I beat myself," she told Variety. "I still have some scars on my legs, and a lot of bruises."
The scenes in Episode 5 are also an emotional burden for the actors. After seeing Zandaj's performance in this episode, fans demanded another Emmy Award.
