Caozhou embroidery art originated from Liaojin, based on the Yuan, prevailed in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and has a history of more than 400 so far. Most of them use silk, silk, cotton and linen and various fabrics as raw materials, which is a combination of embroidery skills and Tang Dynasty "pile aya" and "sticker" techniques. The current Caozhou embroidery is concentrated in Heze City, forming a strong local style of southwest Lu.
As far as the whole country is concerned, it is not only Heze that has similar pile embroidery, but some of them are only made of cloth in key parts, and the rest are painted, and the biggest difference between Caozhou pile embroidery and them is that the whole work is all made of cloth, and the three-dimensional sense is very strong.
The art of piling embroidery was once lost, and only some small works such as baby hats, tiger boots, door curtains, and peony cloth pockets were preserved. After years of inheritance, the development of Caozhou piling embroidery technology still retains a variety of techniques such as painting, relief, drawing, and pasting, and the works are colorful, contrasting, full of texture, exquisite workmanship, strong appreciation and craftsmanship.

Liu Xiantang, the seventh generation inheritor of Caozhou heap embroidery, still continues the skills of his predecessors, not only to the essence of the embroidery technique, but also to organically integrate the flat embroidery and the three-dimensional embroidery, but also to create one after another in the research and production of heap embroidery works in the past 20 years.
Today's Caozhou embroidery is in the hands of Liu Xiantang, which not only retains the original style characteristics of the pile embroidery, but also adds modern aesthetic taste and artistic characteristics. Liu Xiantang's small works of embroidery are innovative, incorporating elements of modern civilization such as filial piety and love for the elderly, marriage and childbirth culture, and changing customs and customs. In addition, Liu Xiantang also combines traditional Oriental techniques with Western oil painting, full of creativity.
In 2019, intangible cultural heritage products such as heap embroidered peonies, guzheng peonies and peony porcelain were displayed in the "National Color Tianxiang - Peony Appreciation in the Forbidden City" Heze Peony Theme Exhibition co-sponsored by the Palace Museum and the Heze Municipal People's Government.
In order to better inherit and develop this ancient skill, Liu Xiantang moved Caozhou Dui embroidery into the school, so that intangible cultural heritage took root in the hearts of children. At the same time, free training courses are held to recruit lovers of traditional skills in society.
Caozhou dui embroidery has shifted from the former necessities of life to the current ornaments. With continuous efforts, the relevant innovative derivatives have been developed and designed, and some products have begun to be produced and sold.
