Developer Bay 12 Games has announced that Dwarven Fortress will launch steam as early as fall 2022, but that will depend on fan feedback.
Dwarven Fortress published a developer article on Steam on Feb. 24 about the current state of the game, which has been on Steam for some time. This post lays out what the team intends to accomplish, including modifications to the graphics and support for other game modes.
The article said that if Dwarven Fortress were to be released in the fall of 2022, it would lack some of the game's features, such as Adventure Mode, Arena Mode, and Steam Achievements, and while these game features will continue to be added in future updates, Bay 12 Games is still seeking feedback from fans to decide if they will postpone the game for full functionality.
The article reads: "We will consider this and think about feedback messages. We'll end up with the answer; it's just a question of the best order, and different players have different correct answers, which is depressing enough! I appreciate the patience that people have been, especially when everything goes well, and thank the community and Kitfox for their support. ”
