On 22 February 2022, the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2022 announced the finalists for the 2022 Cello Competition. Based on the video registration form, the jury selected 68 contestants from 152 entries, from 22 countries or regions, including 20 female contestants and 48 male contestants. Chinese mainland player Chen Yibai was successfully shortlisted. It is reported that the main competition will be held in Brussels, Belgium from May 9 to June 4.

The Queen Elizabeth Competition (Dutch: Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd, French: Concours Music International Reine Élisabeth) is an international competition for professional musicians held in Brussels. The competition is named after Queen Elizabeth of Belgium (1876–1965).

This is a contest for classical violinists (from 1937 to the present), pianists (from 1938 to the present), singers (from 1988 to the present) and cellists (from 2017 to the present). It has also hosted the International Composers Competition from 1953 to 2012. The current patron is Queen Mathilde of Belgium.

Since its inception, it is considered one of the most challenging and prestigious competitions for instrumentalists. The Queen Elizabeth Competition in 1957 was a founding member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions.

2018 — Li Ao

Studied vocal music at Shandong Normal University.

At the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, he starred in "Figaro's Nose" and "Don Pasquali". He has also performed at the Seoul Arts Center, the Spoleto Festival in the United States, the Lincoln Center Music Festival and the Macau International Music Festival.

Li Ao is a laureate of the Precito Domingo World Opera Competition, the Metropolitan Opera National Committee, and the Shizuoka Prefectural Fujisan International Opera Competition.

2017 — Sihao He

Trained by Hans Jensen and Julie Albers at the Robert McDuffie String Center at Mercer University in Macon, USA. He currently completes his master's degree at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, where he still works under Hans Jensen.

He won many competitions, fourth international Tchaikovsky and first prize in Japan in 2013.

He has performed as a soloist with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Macon Symphony Orchestra, and the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra. In terms of chamber music, He Sihao is a member of The Simple Quartet, a band that won first place at the 2009 Shanghai Chamber Music Competition.
