The McAllen Red Label Collection for 50 years
Aged for 50 years
The Macallan Flare Collection reflects his deep emphasis on time, tradition and craftsmanship; this whisky's distinctive flare pays homage to the natural yet rich, warm red hues of McAllen at every step of the way.
Yao Hong has accompanied everyone along the way, starting with the name of founder Alexander Reid (literally "Yao Hong"), to the Macallan "Select Aged" series released more than a century ago in 1903, to Allan Shiach, who identified McAllen antique bottles with red ribbons in the 1980s.
Each drop of precious whisky offers a unique opportunity to explore the Macallan whisky heritage.
Patience matures
Maker Kirsteen Campbell, the master brewer of Macallan Whisky, has created an exceptional single malt whisky that has been watched by generations of whisky masters and has been slowly maturing for more than 60 years until it reaches its perfect maturity. The "new" spirits are "freshly made" in a small copper distillation kettle by McAllen, infused in hand-selected oak barrels, and waiting 60 years to mature.
Over the course of decades of ageing, carefully selected oak barrels have shaped the whisky's unique character, presenting the natural colour, unique aroma and rich flavours of aged single malt whisky.
