We previously reviewed a Titan Legion P34UG gaming monitor that has an all-white look that shines better than most black gaming displays. Like it, the Titan Legion A34QG has adopted the same exterior design. The two are only different in appearance, one is flat and the other is curved.

The Titan Legion A34QG is equipped with a large 34-inch panel with a curved screen with 1000R curvature. Since it uses a 21:9 ratio, it looks more coordinated than a normal 16:9 monitor. In addition, it does not adopt the popular narrow border design, its border is relatively wide, the actual measurement of its outer border plus the inner black edge reached 1.5cm.
In addition, perhaps in order to reduce the size and weight of the display body, it uses an external power supply. We have tested many curved displays and found that some curved displays have a tight fit between the outer bezel and the inner screen, so how does the A34QG work? I specifically looked at the bottom and top of the monitor, and the fit between the bezel and the screen was not bad, but some areas could still be tucked into the fingernails.

The same goes for the Titan Legion A34QG, which is designed with lighting effects on the back of the display, and unlike the left-right through strip used by the previous P34UG, it uses a diagonal strip. However, it is only a single diagonal light strip, if it is a double diagonal line to form an "X" shape, it may look better. At the same time, the English Logo on the middle bracket on the back of the monitor also supports the luminous display.

In addition to the three types of lights, breathing and flashing, the mode of the light bar light effect can also be set to 4 kinds of monochrome flowing water, starlight, colorful pearls, and colorful flowing water, and can be set to pre-color and post-color. However, its lighting effect does not support linkage display with asus, Gigabyte, Rainbow and other motherboard lighting effect systems. I used the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2021 model to connect with the A34QG, and charging and image audio were transferred via just one USB Type-C cable, eliminating the need for an external laptop's power adapter. At the same time, with the help of the professional test equipment "Power-Z", I can see that the charging power output through the monitor can exceed 60W, which is close to the peak power allowed by the computer (65W).
The 1000R curvature and the "fish screen" bring a stronger sense of experience
The A34QG has designed the keys in the middle of the bottom, and it is equipped with only one 5D navigation key, while also integrating a power switch function. However, I found that its five-dimensional navigation keys are slightly loose, and the feedback is not particularly clear when using it. In the OSD menu, I noticed that it does not have many game-related functions, only in the "Profile Mode" provides "Game", "FPS", "RTS" 3 game modes, while "Standard", "Pictures" and "Movie" modes are optional. Push the navigation keys inward to quickly switch between crosshairs. It offers two styles and two colors of crosshairs, with a choice of dot or cross.

In addition, the Titan Legion A34QG offers Adaptive Sync (FreeSync) and HDR, which have become standard on many gaming monitors today, and they are off by default and need to be turned on manually. Unlike many low-end gaming displays that only support HDR400, the A34QG supports HDR1000, which means that its peak brightness can be as high as 1000cd/m. After turning on the display's HDR, it is also necessary to turn on HDR in the system's "Display Settings" - "Play HDR games and applications". We will not repeat the functions of HDR, it can provide higher dynamic brightness, so that the gaming experience is better. Of course, it also requires the game itself to support hdR functionality.
In addition, as an esports display, the A34QG supports a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms (MPRT, Moving Picture Response Time) response time, which is based on the principle of reducing the time displayed per frame to reduce the visual persistence effect. I experienced P34UG through CS:GO. In the game, thanks to the display using a 21:9 "fish screen", its field of view is wider than the ordinary 16:9 monitor, and the wider field of view can help players find enemies on the left and right sides early. In addition, the curvature of 1000R forms a semi-enveloping of the human eye, making your attention more focused and immersive. It does not "shake your head" like a normal flat 21:9 monitor. At the same time, I turned on the crosshair aiming assist function, which can improve my hit rate in the game, which is very useful for novice players.
Although the Titan Legion A34QG uses a 144Hz refresh rate, although it is slightly lower than my previous use of 165Hz, there is no particularly obvious difference in the experience of the game, and the smooth experience brought by 144Hz is also very strong, such as switching weapons, running, jumping, the screen is very smooth, there is no sense of lag. In addition, I highly recommend that users turn on Adaptive Sync (FreeSync) before gaming, even if you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, plus the monitor is not G-SYNC Compatible certified, but there is no splash screen or stuck screen in the game.

Esports monitors also have wide color gamut levels of color
The Titan Legion A34QG uses a VA panel, and the vast majority of curved screens are currently based on VA panels, which is because va panels belong to "soft" sexual screens, while IPS belongs to "hard" sexual screens, and relatively speaking, VA can more easily achieve greater curved curved curvature. The resolution of the display is 3440×1440, and the nominal brightness can reach 650cd/m. In addition, the A34QG uses a native 8-bit color depth panel, which can reach 10 bits through FRC dithering technology. However, the display defaults to 8 bits of color depth, which requires manual turn-on of 10 bits. For example, with NVIDIA graphics, you can change the "Output Color Depth" to "10bpc" under "Change Resolution" in the Graphics Driver Control Panel under "Use NVIDIA Color Settings". If it is an AMD graphics card, after opening the AMD Radeon Software driver panel, change to "10bpc" in the "Color Depth" column in the "Display" options, and then go to the "Advanced Display Settings" in the system to see that the bit depth is 10bit. The higher the color depth, the richer the color displayed.
Due to the use of 3440×1440 resolution, the A34QG presents a clear effect on a large 34-inch panel, with delicate image quality and no obvious pixel problems. At the same time, from the subjective perception, the A34QG did not appear color cast, and the overall image picture was relatively uniform. At the same time, we also carried out an objective color analysis with the help of a professional testing device, the Spyder X Elite.
After we warmed up the display for at least 1 hour, in standard mode, the brightness was adjusted to the maximum, and the data displayed by spyder X Elite, its sRGB, AdobeRGB, DCI-P3, and NTSC color gamut coverage area reached 100%, 85%, 90%, and 81% respectively, of which some of the gamut data was even higher than the official nominal value. In addition, the Titan Legion A34QG has a maximum color deviation of 3.6 (the least accurate), a minimum value of 0.4 (the most accurate), and an average of 1.53, with a color accuracy of mid-to-high.

For such a 34-inch large block, how uniform is the A34QG's screen? By testing the screen divided into 9 areas, it was found that the brightness value at the top of the screen was slightly lower than the brightness in the middle and lower parts, and the difference was 13% to 14%. The maximum brightness value is 656.3cd/m, which is consistent with the official nominal value. In addition, the Titan Legion A34QG has a brightness of 0.21cd/m on black field, which can be calculated to have a contrast ratio of 3125:1, which also exceeds the nominal value.

Although the Titan Legion A34QG does not have a super high color gamut coverage area like the P34UG we have previously evaluated, its sRGB, AdobeRGB, DCI-P3, NTSC color gamut performance is still excellent, has entered the threshold of wide color gamut, and the color performance is enough to meet daily use. In addition, it has a large bending arc of 1000R, and the ratio of 21:9 can create an excellent immersive experience. Game features such as 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms MPRT response time, and Adaptive Sync are more conventional, but they can meet the requirements of most players. For a large esports monitor of more than 2,000 yuan, the A34QG is an affordable choice.
