Elon Musk revealed that Tesla will open a future-themed restaurant in Hollywood and a car movie theater will accept Dogecoin payments. Tesla had previously accepted Dogecoin purchases of some of its merchandise on its website.
Musk: "You can pay with dogs"
Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Friday that he would accept dog payments in the future in response to a tweet from developer Ryan Zohoury, who also said the new Tesla supercharging station in Santa Monica, California, was almost full 10 minutes after opening.
Musk tweeted that he would open restaurants and drive-in theaters in Hollywood. He also said in a follow-up tweet:
Payment can be made with Dogecoin.
As of press time, Musk has not elaborated on which products can be purchased with Dogecoin. Some believe that The Tesla supercharging station will accept Dogecoin, while others interpret Musk's tweet as only available at restaurants and drive-in theaters in the Hollywood area.
Still, Dogecoin proponents have welcomed Musk's use of Dogecoin.
However, this has no effect on the Dogecoin price in the US dollar. Internet data shows that when Musk tweeted, the price of Dogecoin was $0.1417. Then it only rose to $0.1450, and then it fell to $0.1411.
In January, when Tesla accepted Dogecoin payments, Musk said on the TV show that if McDonald's accepted Dogecoin, it could eat McDonald's live. After that, McDonald's responded: Only Tesla accepts the Grimace Coin.
Musk is a long-time supporter of Dogecoin and is sometimes referred to as the father of Dogecoin. Musk believes that Dogecoin is the people's cryptocurrency, and he has previously said that tesla and Many Spacex employees have talked to him about their ownership of Dogecoin. He said Dogecoin is the best cryptocurrency and Bitcoin is more suitable as a store of value.
