Barry wins the Rookie Tournament! Wagner's free throws were eliminated and Cunningham hit a crucial three-pointer to be elected MVP
On February 19, Beijing time, the NBA officially opened All-Star Weekend today. Today's highlight was the Rookie Challenge, in which Thomas advanced to the final by beating Worthy 50-48 on Bain's free throw kill, and Barry beat Peyton 50-48 with Tate's layup.
The finals are set at 25 points, starting from 50-50, and the first team to score 75 points wins the championship to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the NBA.
The starting players for both sides are:
Thomas - Achuva, Stewart, Sadik Bay, Bain, Halliburton;
Team Barry - Daniels, Wagner, Mobley, Cunningham, O'Corro.
Barry's Mobley hit the first three-pointer, Thomas' Sadiq Bay hit a layup, Bain and Achua hit a three-pointer in a row, and after Wagner's dunk, Sadiq Bay hit another three-pointer to give Thomas an 11-5 lead over Barry.
Daniels hit a three-pointer after the timeout, and Cunningham hit a layup to trail the score to just one point. Achuva hit two free throws before hitting a layup and then hitting a three-pointer to give Thomas an 18-12 lead. Mobley dunked, Shin kyung hit a three-pointer, Tate scored 2+1, and Barry beat Thomas 20-18.
In the final showdown, Achuva won the basket, Daniels hit one of two free throws, Cunningham hit the key three-pointer, and Barry took a 24-20 lead. Wagner caused a foul to hit a free throw as Barry beat Thomas 25-20.
In the end, Barry won this year's rookie tournament. Final stats, Barry's Mobley had 5 points and 3 rebounds, Tate and Cunningham 5 points, Daniels 4 points, Shenjing 3 points, Wagner 2 points, Thomas Achuva 12 points, Sadiq Bay 5 points and Bain 3 points. Cunningham was elected MVP of this year's Rookie Tournament!
