According to historical records, the Jixia Xuegong was founded in 374 BC and named after its location under the Linzi Ji Gate, which lasted for more than 150 years. The Minoru Gakuen Palace is the world's first institution of higher learning in a special form organized by the government and hosted by private individuals, and is an institution with a variety of properties such as research institutes, university halls, and administrative consultation, which has contributed to the formation of the situation of "a hundred schools of thought" in the world, and is a monument in the history of China's ideological and cultural development.
The importance of the Minoru Gakuen Palace in Chinese history is beyond doubt, and although its location is well documented in the literature, its site has not been known.
According to the staff of the Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeology Department of the Zibo Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, in 2017, the Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology set up an archaeological team in the ancient city of Linzi Qi and began to look for the Jixia Xuegong. Zheng Tongxiu and Sun Bo were the leaders of the two institutes as the project leaders, and Dong Wenbin was the team leader.
After nearly five years of archaeological excavation, experts have solved a series of questions using the "exclusion method", the stratigraphic relationship is clear, the shape of the system has begun to take shape, and from the perspective of literature, orientation, archaeological findings, etc., it is basically possible to judge the location of the Minoru Gakuen Palace. The building base site group is connected to the small city of Qi Gucheng in the east, the south width and north are narrow and slightly right angle trapezoidal, the maximum width from east to west is about 210 meters, the length from north to south is about 190 meters, the total area is nearly 40,000 square meters, and a total of four rows of building sites have been found. The building site group is in a closed area, surrounded by walls and trenches, of which the trenches and the small city moat are connected as one, and the road is found between the building base site group and the small city, leading north to the west gate of the small city and south to the south gate of the small city.
On September 25 last year, sponsored by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province (Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau) and the Zibo Municipal People's Government, and hosted by the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the People's Government of Linzi District of Zibo City, the Expert Seminar on Archaeological Discoveries at the West Gate of the Small Town of Qiguo was held in Linzi. The meeting invited more than 20 well-known domestic experts and scholars, including Liu Qingzhu, researcher of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and member of the Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, to conduct field investigations and carry out special discussions. The participating experts affirmed the direct relationship between the site and the Minoru Gakuen Palace, and put forward constructive suggestions on the protection and utilization of the site in the next step. This in turn makes the "Search for minoru Gakugu" a step further, adding weight to the confirmation of the site.
In 2022, experts will continue to fully expose the south gate and search for the western and northern walls, and will also excavate the building foundation sites within the site to further explore the specific uses of these buildings.
"It is necessary to speed up the construction of projects such as the Qiguo Ancient City Archaeological Site Park, and promote the declaration of the Qiguo Ancient City Ruins and Keju as world cultural heritage." On February 18, the Work Report of Zibo Municipal Government was clearly put forward. The ruins of the Jixia Xuegong are of immeasurable value to Zibo, which is building a demonstration area for the inheritance and innovation of Qi culture, deeply excavating the cultural value of the city, and implementing the breakthrough action of Qi cultural inheritance and innovation; at the same time, it is of great significance to the study of the spirit of Chinese culture.
