On 11 February 2022, at the Musée Paul Valéry museum in France, "4 À 4", four spaces, four artists, will be exhibited, and every two years the exhibition selects the works of four artists with important potential in the international contemporary art world.
In this exhibition, Zhang Hongmei showed the trajectory of creation in recent years, and curator Stephen Tru gave a high evaluation: her use of fabric as a material, especially the use of Chinese folk paper-cutting techniques to directly cut and paste, has become a very personalized symbol. She is also active in the fields of sculpture, installation, video, and performance, thinking about and expanding concepts and forms. She embodies a continuous and powerful energy in the process of practicing art, making her artistic creation form more abundant and complete. Of particular note is the installations she has produced in public spaces around the world in recent years, such as the public art entitled "Urban Colours" for the University of Turin, the installation entitled "The Last Jungle" for the city of Palermo, the installation "Bundled" for the Municipality of Catania, and the installation project currently being carried out on a mission for the Italian city of Magliano Alfieri, commissioned by UNESCO, and the future MAGA for Gallarat, Italy The exhibitions prepared by the museum and the MIFA Museum in Miami, USA are very much awaited.
Among them, Zhang Hongmei's "City Series" shows the rapid development of contemporary Chinese cities; the installation works of the "Bundle Series" are intended to express: the freedom of the vacuum does not exist, everyone will be connected and bound, and what binds you may be family, children, work, social environment, economic conditions, and even a small mobile phone will wrap you tightly, and more unfortunate is the self-binding of thinking.
