Post-stroke aphasis (PSA) is the most common type of aphasia and is caused by direct damage to the cerebral language cortex after stroke or language-related brain network dysfunction. PSA is seen in 20% to 40% of post-stroke patients and tends to have a poor prognosis if left untreated. Early diagnosis and treatment of PSA are of great significance for the recovery of patients' language function. The current classification of aphasia is mainly divided into Broca, Wernicke, conductive, transcortical (motor and sensory), complete, named aphasia, and some clinically less common types of aphasia. At present, the clinical effect of rehabilitation treatment for PSA is not very significant, and there is no unified academic consensus on its mechanism.

Foreign stroke management guidelines state that post-stroke aphasia (PSA) interventions should be carried out at an early stage. However, at present, the experience in the clinical management of PSA in China is relatively insufficient. In order to promote clinicians and rehabilitation therapists to evaluate PSA more standardizedly, systematically and comprehensively, and to treat them individually, the Neurorehabilitation Group of the Neurology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the Cerebrovascular Disease Professional Committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medical Association organized experts in relevant fields in China to comprehensively review the relevant literature of PSA with reference to relevant research and guidelines at home and abroad, and combined with the actual clinical situation in China, the Expert Consensus on Clinical Management of PSA in China was compiled and published in the first issue of the journal "Chinese Rehabilitation Theory and Practice" in 2022.
