Xiang Huajun, who majored in environmental protection, entered the Jiangning Ecological and Environmental Bureau after graduating from university. The first test this spirited young man faces is "sampling." The location, depth, and location of the pollution source of the water, for the sampler, none of these parameters can be wrong. In the first-line sampling, the complex geographical environment and the changeable weather conditions make the already young newcomers more helpless. "At that time, the old station manager took me, and he was my master." Under the guidance of Station Manager Yu, Xiang Huajun is more proficient in the use of professional knowledge. "By observing the color of the water and sniffing, we can preliminarily judge the state of water quality. The more you go, the source of pollution is found faster, and the operating process is more skilled. In addition to diligence and hard work, Xiang Huajun is also particularly able to endure hardships. In Nanjing in July and August, he went to the foundry to take samples, and the rust left him, and with sweat stuck to his skin. After that sampling, Xiang Huajun was allergic and had a rash for a month. Even so, he did not ask for leave, "whether it is a normal work or an urgent task, where to fight, never resign!" Xiang Huajun said.
In 2010, the newcomers also became "veterans" of the monitoring station, and Xiang Huajun served as the director of the monitoring station of the Jiangning Ecological and Environmental Bureau. In the 11 years of working in the monitoring station, Xiang Huajun always likes to emphasize "accurate", sampling should be accurate, analysis should be accurate, and data should be more accurate, he said: "Environmental monitoring work should strictly adhere to the 'lifeline' of data quality, so as to provide important data support for air pollution control. In 2018, this "monitoring veteran" who has been guarding the "lifeline" of the control data has officially become a "gas control person".

For Xiang Huajun, eating half of the meal, tutoring half of the homework, and watching half of the movie have become the norm of life. Since entering the pollution prevention department, nothing has been more important than atmospheric data.
2021 is an unforgettable year for Xiang Huajun. In this year, the PM2.5 concentration value in Jiangning District changed from "no drop but rise" at the beginning of the year to 4.5% year-on-year, reaching the national secondary standard, and the excellent rate reached more than 80% for two consecutive years. Behind this, Xiang Huajun's pollution prevention department is under tremendous pressure. "Summarize, review, meet to study, front-line visits." In order to improve the quality of the atmosphere, he used all the methods he could think of and did all the efforts he could make.
Under the high-intensity work pressure, Xiang Huajun organized experts to carry out multiple rounds of investigation and in-depth treatment in view of the characteristics of the large number of pollution sources and large pollution loads in the key areas of Jiangning District to further reduce the pollution load. On the basis of strengthening supervision and implementing in-depth governance, he carried out refined management of the surrounding environment of the site, and organized the implementation of refined improvement projects such as the installation of fume purifiers in residential buildings and the micro-fog of street lamps.
Organize and carry out special inspections every day, report the problems found in the inspection every week, and set air quality control targets every month. Through the comprehensive analysis of data such as automatic stations, micro-stations, voyage monitoring and pollution source monitoring, early warning information and response measures are released in a timely manner to ensure that where the early warning information points, targeted control measures are implemented, and effectively improve the effectiveness of pollution response. In the work of controlling qi, Xiang Huajun is like a fast-spinning gyroscope, not slowing down and not stopping.
There are fewer people and more pressure, which is the normal work of Xiang Huajun and his colleagues. In the past year, Xiang Huajun did not take a vacation, did not travel, did not take care of the children's homework, and did not even eat the dumplings of Chinese New Year's Eve, but he answered Jiang Ning's qi questionnaire with a beautiful score.
