Falling into the "trap" of the liar
On the afternoon of February 10, Teacher Lin of a school in Songmen Town, Wenling City, was preparing lessons at home, and a verification message popped up on WeChat: I am Chen XX's father, hello class teacher, please pass it. Seeing that the name was correct, Mr. Lin passed the friend application and joined the student's parent group.
For two days after entering the group, this "Father Chen" just quietly watched the news in the group and did not make any remarks. On the afternoon of the 12th, Teacher Lin sent a notice of tuition collection to the group. "Father Chen" took this opportunity to privately chat with Teacher Lin about the payment method.
At this time, Teacher Lin happened to have an urgent matter at home, and after answering the question of the "parents", he put the mobile phone aside. After seeing that Teacher Lin did not reply to his message again, "Father Chen" took off his "sheepskin" and began to act.
He first copied Mr. Lin's WeChat name and avatar, and then pretended to be the "class teacher" to post a collection notice in the class group, saying that the school notice now wants to buy learning materials, and parents need to pay 314 yuan, which is uniformly collected by the school and attached a collection code. The parents who were kept in the dark did not notice anything unusual, and in just ten minutes, a number of parents transferred money and sent screenshots of the payment.
Fortunately, a parent verified with Teacher Lin and found out the scam. Teacher Lin immediately viewed WeChat, issued a notice to let the rest of the parents stop paying, kicked the person out of the group chat, and went to the Songmen Police Station of the Wenling City Public Security Bureau in Taizhou with the parents to call the police.
At present, the case is still under further investigation.
When the school season comes, the incidence of fraudulent cases of impersonating teachers is high, and parents do not rush to pay the fees when they see "teachers" releasing charging information in the class group, and can verify the authenticity of the information with the teacher himself by telephone contact or other means.
In addition, the real-name management of class groups should be strengthened, and suspicious personnel should be checked and cleaned up regularly. The class parent committee can collect the class fee uniformly at the beginning of the school year, and the expenditure is unified, so as not to give fraudsters the opportunity to take advantage of it.
