Review of previous events

In fact, as early as August 23, 2021, local judge Brad Seligman ruled that the UCB must freeze enrollment and that the maximum number of enrollments in the future should not exceed the number of students in the 2020-21 academic year. A more popular understanding is to prohibit UCB from expanding students later! Coupled with the June demand by California lawmakers to increase the number of students admitted to the state and reduce the number of out-of-state students, it will only be more difficult for international students to apply for Berkeley this year.

The campus currently expects that the court-mandated reduction in enrollment will result in at least $57 million in tuition losses!

Currently, the UCB appeals the ruling to the California Supreme Court!

The appeal has not yet been heard and a summary of the case will be provided in the spring and summer of 2022. A decision is expected to be taken by the end of this year.

However, because the impact of the enrollment freeze on this year's freshman admissions applicants and direct campus operations is so severe and unprecedented, UC asked the California Supreme Court to uphold the ruling during the appeal.
