Sakura Osaka club of Japan's J-League announced today that Shanghai Shenhua defender Jonić has returned to join the club.

Born 29 January 1991 in Croatia, Jonić is a 187cm tall defender who plays as a defender. In February 2015, Jonić joined South Korean K-League side Incheon United. He impressed former Shenhua coach Choi Kang-hee.

In January last year, Jonić joined Shanghai Shenhua from Sakura Osaka and scored 1 goal 23 times in all competitions last season. Jonić's contract with Shenhua was originally due to expire at the end of 2023.

After returning to Sakura Osaka, Jonić will wear the Number 22 shirt. It is understood that the reason why Sakura Osaka Club signed back Jonić is mainly because the main defender of the team, Sekobuyuki, joined the Swiss Grasshopper Club.
