A personal narrative about West Peak

Text/Ma Ye

This is just a personal narrative about Xifeng, with no historical facts, no evidence, only memories.

The starting point of my narrative is 1987.

West Peak Street

Historical records record that Xifeng has a history of more than 100 years of founding, and by 1987, the mark of the ancient city such as the city wall and the city gate no longer existed, leaving only the names of the old city and the south city moat and some green brick and gray tile houses with corrugated grass. In the 1990s, the northeast corner of Xiaoshizi, which is now the place of the Golden Elephant Building, is still a row of wooden door board stores, my friend and I once leaned on the counter to drink two cents a bowl of loose wine, quite a bit of salty hotel meaning, we are also like Kong Yiji, standing in a long shirt to drink, but there is no fennel bean, nor have we told people the four ways of writing the word "fennel".

By 1987, when I officially settled in Xifeng, although Xifeng was the seat of the prefectural party committee, it still belonged to a town in Qingyang County. At that time, Xifeng had formed four avenues centered on xiaoshizi, east, west, south and north. Although Xifeng is a small city, the urban framework is not small, and the four avenues, especially the east-west avenues, are very long, but the layout is very loose. On both sides of the street, separated by a large area of farmland and a cottage, a unit and a factory can be seen. To the west is the carpet factory, to the east is the tannery, to the south is now the Municipal People's Hospital, and to the north is the Forest School. At that time, there were many factories, such as the first agricultural factory, the second agricultural factory, the motor factory, the wool spinning factory, the match factory, the non-staple food factory, the tobacco factory, the wine factory, the pharmaceutical factory... A variety of machinery such as flour grinders and generators can be manufactured, as well as daily necessities such as clothing, food and medicine, tobacco and alcohol. There are small shi characters and big shi characters, and the words circulating on the street are "big shi characters are not big, small shi characters are not small", the reason why there is such a strange appearance, I am afraid that because the big shi characters are the old center, and the small shi characters are the new center. Cinemas and department stores are concentrated in this small word, but the opposite side of the cinema is still farmland. There are many half-light and half-dark earthen zhuangzi and pit courtyards around, and if these earthen zhuangzi and pit courtyards are preserved until now, transformed and beautified, I am afraid that they will become the places that can best reflect the characteristics of the city on the Loess Plateau. It can be said that at that time, Xifeng did not have a village in the city, but a city within a village. Later, step by step, the villages in the city disappeared one by one, and the original West Peak became a real city. The extension of the extension of Xifeng City is only a matter of nearly ten or twenty years.

In addition to four streets, there is also a short tung tree street, called street. It is said that Tongshu Street used to be a tongshu alley, and now there is no tongshu, and Tongshu Street is only retained in the customary title of the citizens. In the past, the most common alleys in Xifeng were alleys, some of which seemed to be relatively old, Fortress Lane, Arrow Road Lane; some were not too old, but there were also historical stories and legends, the location of the Kuomintang Commissioner's Office, it was called Exclusive Lane, the SECRET TEMPORARY OFFICE OF THE CPC Heshui County Committee and the County Government was called Heshui Lane; some were the original village names, Zhengjia Lane, Old Town Lane; more lanes originally had no name, because of the occupancy of a certain unit, it was customary to be named after the unit, Wei School Lane, Jiaoxue Alley, Gongxue Alley, Food Factory Lane, Zhang San Furniture Lane. Most of these alleys are uneven and curved, and the people living in them are basically rural people, except for a small number of old citizens, most of the units do not have family buildings, and the employees do not have their own housing, they all live in the units.

Although there are four main streets in West Peak, there are few cars on the street and there are no traffic signs. Xiao Shizi once had a guard tower where the police were on duty, but it was later withdrawn. When the West Peak just had traffic lights, people did not have the consciousness of "red light stop, green light line", two people stood on both sides of the intersection, pulled a rope, pulled up when the red light, and put down when the green light. "Two old men with one rope" was spread as a joke for many years.

Xifeng City, in the 1990s, underwent a large-scale renovation, the north and south streets were widened, many dilapidated houses were demolished, and some high-level buildings were gradually built, with rapid development and great changes, which were after entering the new century. Now Xifeng, there are several longitudinal avenues, many crisscrossing roads, many bustling streets, of course, alleys still exist, but the high-rise buildings on the street, traffic is busy, traffic jams have become a worry for citizens, parking has become a difficult thing; the road surface in the alleys is smooth, and at night, the street lights are also lit. The West Peak is still small, but it already has the atmosphere of a modern city.

View of the West Peak

Although Xifeng is a small city, after all, it is the political, economic and cultural center of Qingyang, and it is still the place where many Qingyang people who have not gone far away, especially the place where townships like me yearn.

When you get to the West Peak, the first thing to go to is, of course, Xiao Shizi.

Xiaoshizi had a cinema, and later built a department store and a golden elephant building, which is the undoubted cultural center and commercial center of Xifeng. The department store building, which was built in the 1980s, is still grand and beautiful when you think about it today, and it is not outdated at all. Later, in the center of Xiaoshizi, a flower bed was built, and in the center of the flower bed stood a huge sculpture of four elephants, a large ball on the back of the elephant, and on the ball stood a woman holding a streamer and a radiant spirit, showing the vitality and vitality of this young city. There are several photo booths in the flower beds, and people who have just come to the West Peak have taken a picture here, which is a visit here. The 12-storey Golden Elephant Tower, built in the 1990s, is the first high-rise building in West Peak. Now the cinema has been demolished, the department store has been demolished, the flower bed is gone, the sculpture is gone, the Golden Elephant Building is still there, the upper floors have not been put into use until now, and several more magnificent buildings have been built, and the small shizi is still the center of the West Peak, but it can only be said that it is the center of the old city, and the scene of the past can only exist in the yellowed photos and faintly as if in the memory.

Parks are only recreational playgrounds in cities, and waterlogging dams are facilities for water storage and flood prevention in rural areas. There was originally a waterlogged dam in the West Peak, called East Lake, and the park built on the original site of the waterlogging dam was the first park in West Peak, which was called East Lake Park.

There is a big and large waterlogged dam on the east side of the West Peak, and when I was in college, I passed by the West Peak and went to a classmate, and I had to go through this waterlogging dam. On the side of the dam is an apple orchard with a tall wall, and there is only one foot-wide place on the wall where people can walk, and it is close to the wall to barely pass. It's hard to miss when you meet people on narrow roads, and it's even harder to meet people carrying bicycles. Why is there such a big waterlogged dam in the city? It was not until last year, when compiling a literary and historical material on the control of soil erosion on the Loess Plateau, that it was clear that this waterlogging dam was also intended to store water and prevent flooding. In 1950, due to soil erosion and the extension of the ditch, the small Xifeng City was in danger of being divided into two, and there was a detection team of the Yellow Committee, riding a carriage to the West Peak, and the Prefectural Committee Administration urgently asked for help, and the plan they gave was to build a waterlogged dam, which guarded the West Peak for forty years. The waterlogged dam is not a landscape, but it is also a paradise for children, swimming in summer, skating in winter, and catching fish and insects. Despite the inconvenience, I have not heard of anyone falling into a waterlogged dam.

Waterlogged dams can be a place for children to play, and crematoriums can also be a place for young people to relax.

My first workplace at West Peak was In Wei school Lane, surrounded by farmland, cottages, pig pens, and haystacks. In the early morning when the fog is thick and the snow is flying, I often walk into the field alone and feel the tranquility of the earth. Heading east, along the country dirt road, walking through a few zhuangtou, it came to the edge of the river. On a clear morning, you can see the sun rising from the opposite mound, and the feeling of gushing out and coming in front of you is incomparably magnificent; at summer dusk, you can open your mind to absorb the cool breeze of habit and experience the freedom of birds in the sea and the sky. At the top of the hill is a crematorium, and down the hillside are layers of graves. I have seen the marks on the tombs one by one, some are tall tombstones, there are long inscriptions, praising the great deeds of the tomb owner; some are just a thin wooden strip, a few words, recording the name of the deceased, the date of birth and death. These words are all history, all literature, the life of a stranger. This is not my single habit, but the common place where the depressed literary youth of the small town banished their hearts.

I once wrote in an article that Qingyang does not have a famous scenic spot, but it is full of scenery, including mounds, ravines, mountain beams, and the flattened loess mound is a unique scenery.

West Peak also has real scenic spots. As a pilot project for soil erosion control in the Loess Plateau, Nanxiaohegou is a rare scenic spot with lush trees on the hillside and ripples in the water at the bottom of the ditch. In the autumn, three or two friends, riding bicycles, came here, lying on the thick dry grass, looking at the blue sky, flying clouds, full of boredom and took off. Excavated in the Northern Wei Dynasty, the North Grotto Temple is a famous monument in Qingyang, and I have brought students here many times. At that time, there were no accessible cars, so I borrowed bicycles everywhere, one for two people. From Weixue Lane to the North Grotto Temple, let alone 30 miles, when I went all the way downhill, full of interest, singing and soaring; when I came back, it was inevitable that I was breathless and sweaty, but the mood was still high, and everyone was seeing the world and harvesting full of looks. I was so young! The students are young, the teachers are young, and West Peak City is also young.

West Peak's row

In 1987, I graduated from university and came to West Peak. The long-distance bus pulled the books I had bought in my five years of college, the magazines I subscribed to, a dozen cardboard boxes, nothing else, even the bedding. At that time, there was no urban public transportation in Xifeng, and there were only rack cars pulling jobs in the bus station. I was covered with only five dimes of a coin, it was a commemorative coin, the person pulling the cart did not know, did not want to collect, or the concierge master broke the siege. Later, there were gradually rickshaws, pulling goods at stations and pulling people on the streets. Shouting from afar: "Three wheels—" Sitting on the edge of the car, crossing the streets and alleys, now that I think about it, it's like a joke. Later, there were rickshaws. Although Xifeng is in the hinterland of Dong Zhiyuan, the urban area is not flat, the west is high and the east is low, from east to west of several long slopes, if the rickshaw pulls two big fat people, it is really not easy.

The opening of buses in Xifeng was already in the late 1990s. At first, there were only two obsolete cars, north-south traffic. Because there are too few trains and no passengers, in order to pull business, get on the bus to send fruit candy, and the terminal station also supports the pot and provides rice soup for free. This kind of business strategy, which has never been heard of in ancient times, can be included in the world's strange tan. This shows the difficulty of starting public transportation in Xifeng.

Buses are struggling, and "ground rats" are all the rage. Having entered the new century, the urban public transportation in Xifeng is mainly "ground rats", that is, motorcycle modifications and small cars with carriages. "Ground mouse" is a common name for the Xifeng people. I don't know who called out this name first, it is very graphic and talented. The "ground rat" has brought convenience to the citizens to travel, but also brought great harm to traffic safety, and the government has resolutely banned it. After that, public transportation with buses and taxis as the main body gradually developed.

When I was in college, the shuttle bus from Xifeng to Lanzhou took two days, and it was necessary to cross Liupan Mountain and cross Huajialing. At that time, the road was bumpy and rugged, the car was old, like an old cow, all the way to "eat and eat", plus over the mountains, almost every trip will encounter several accidents. If it is winter, the ice and snow road is slippery, and it is common for people to turn over on their backs. Although it didn't take me a day to get from the county to Xifeng, I didn't have a car from Lanzhou after arriving in Xifeng, and it took three days to go to Lanzhou. Our classmates are several times farther away than me, but the ones who take the longest time on the road are our classmates in Qingyang County.

Xifeng is 500 kilometers away from Lanzhou and only more than 200 kilometers away from Xi'an, and now a day to and from Xi'an is also a common thing, but it will take a whole day at that time. After the high-speed highway in Shaanxi was repaired to Changwu, the Qingyang people got off the highway, went north from Fengkou, walked up to the rugged mountain road home, and sighed: "It's really back to the old area!" "This situation was not completely improved until the opening of the West Changfeng Expressway more than a decade ago."

West Peak had an airport in the 1970s, but it flew less and was grounded for more time. When I first graduated, the plane was still flying, but there was only one route to Lanzhou. At that time, taking a plane was not to pay for a ticket, but to reach a certain level and the unit could open a letter of introduction. Because of a relatively urgent official work in the unit, I had the opportunity to fly for the first time. The plane has only 24 seats, and it sits in pairs facing each other. The plane was fast, less than an hour, but it took four hours to get from the airport to downtown Lanzhou. Later, the plane was grounded for a long time, and the airport became a training ground, and many amateur drivers in Xifeng trained from here, including me. Because of the training car, it also gave birth to a local food brand - Pengyuan Zhenzi noodles. At first, it was the people who practiced the car who were hungry, went to the farmhouse, asked for a little meal, and paid a few dollars; later, more and more people needed to eat, so they opened a shop.

Now it is needless to say, the highway runs through the north and south, more than a dozen routes, flying to more than ten major cities, crossing the ordinary railway, directly into the high-speed rail era, 70 minutes can reach Xi'an. The roads from east to west, south to north are open, and it is not fast to travel thousands of miles a day.

West Peak's eating

At that time, Xifeng, not to mention hotels, restaurants are also very few, eating are along the street stalls and selling. Selling wonton noodles, soba chopped noodles, tofu brain, clear soup lamb. Xifeng is now a famous old broth and mutton shop, which initially set up a stall in front of the military sub-district, and later built a small tin house as an operation room, and customers still squatted or sat on the street to eat. There is a market in Qinbaling, and there are many stalls selling wonton noodles in the market. On both sides of the streets of the military sub-district, there are vegetable sellers and various snacks. There is a restaurant selling yellow wine from tin pots, and we are a group of literary youths, and here we have also received poets and editors-in-chief from the provincial city.

Xiaoshizi deserves its central position and reputation, its bustling daytime bustle, and its aroma overflowing at night. The night market of Xiaoshizi is the eternal memory of generations of Xifeng people. I was most impressed by the stir-fried cold powder and steamed chicken. The stir-fry scoop has been stirred several times, a sizzling sound, a bowl of hot, soft fried cold powder, the aroma straight into the heart. The steamer was uncovered, the water vapor was steaming, the aroma was swirling, and the smell of steamed chicken filled the entire cross street. Due to my remote location and inconvenient transportation, I had little opportunity to eat directly, and during the holidays, the stove of the unit stopped, so I asked my colleagues living in the city to come back at night to bring me a little. This meal in one day can not only satisfy the stomach, but also relieve the hunger.

There are several state-run canteens in Xifeng, and there are few restaurants on the street, let alone hotels. When guests come, cook and entertain guests at home; during the New Year's Festival, relatives, friends, and colleagues of the unit take turns to eat door to door; a small dining table, a small house, sitting, standing, and sitting, standing, and sitting, standing, wandering and flowing. There are red and white happy events, but also self-built stoves, ask the chef to do; I just went to work, a colleague married his daughter, only fifty cents of love.

A few years after I joined the workforce, a Sichuan restaurant opened in front of the match factory, with only two facades and a pair of little sisters running it. After work, colleagues in the unit often invite each other to come here, order a few dishes, and drink a few bottles of four or five yuan a bottle of knockdown well or KongFu feast. Eating and drinking end the accounting, and sharing it equally according to the head. This should be the earliest "hotel" in Xifeng, and young people who are far away in the courtyard of the South Street Underground Committee also often come here.

At that time, the most high-end "hotel" in Xifeng was called "Niyang Chun", which was diagonally opposite the original Qingyang No. 1 Middle School. It is said that it is high-grade, but in fact, it is still three adobe houses, with several round tables; the grade is mainly reflected in the boss and chef, who is said to have cooked at the Chinese embassy in a certain country. We couldn't afford the embassy-level treatment, but fortunately the boss was the father of my student, and when the student graduated, he invited a few teachers and classmates to eat once. How about embassy-level meals, now forgotten, that sense of glory is still there.

Xifeng's catering industry has developed extremely rapidly, and after entering the 21st century, it has really sprung up. Sichuan, Hunan and Cantonese cuisines, hot pot, Chinese food, Western food, you sing I appear; everywhere the lights are red and green, and the customers are full of doors. Some diners threw out a bold statement: "Eat down one hotel a year", although it is not a rhetoric, but the former servants follow and bravely go to the former, and there is no shortage of generations.

In recent years, west peaks have become more diverse in terms of dining types, followed by Dirkus, KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut and young people and children have a place to eat.

Restaurants are located next to the hotel. Home guests, hotel reception; there is a business to discuss, the hotel to meet; a long time not to see, the hotel to meet; red and white happy events, the hotel to undertake. Even family gatherings, birthdays, Chinese New Year's EveChinese New Year's Eve meals, and booking hotels. The specifications are high and convenient, that is, there is less of the kind of fireworks that are happy and harmonious. I often have the opportunity to enter the hotel, and I want to eat a bowl of authentic fried cold powder and a piece of steamed chicken, but it is extremely rare.

West Peak people

The People of Xifeng are really simple enough. At that time, people greeted each other or asked, "Have you eaten?" "Telephones are not yet popular, there are very few home telephones, and there are only a few units, one for the main leader's office and one for the unit office." When calling, instead of reporting to the door first, ask the other party: "Who are you?" "There are a few jokes that are both true and false. The phone is connected, the caller asks "who are you", the person who answers the phone is a leader, may be thinking deeply about major issues, or may be used to being called a position, for a moment can not remember their own name, in the phone hesitate, repeatedly muttering: "Who am I?" Who am I coming from? After thinking about it for a long time, it seemed to suddenly come to mind: "I am the director of that certain department." One person picked up the phone, and the other person was quite polite and asked, "Your surname?" The man blurted out, "My grandson." "The popularity of telephones is really too rapid, especially in the vast rural areas directly from the "there is a ditch roar", jumped to the era of mobile communication, so now in public places often hear people talking loudly, it is not surprising at all, because they think that they can take a mobile phone can roar across a larger ditch.

Television also became popular rapidly. Almost all families have color TVs, but there are only three or four TV channels, and almost every family subscribes to a radio and television newspaper to outline the programs to be watched in advance, only to miss them. The opening music of CCTV's "News Network" sounded, marking the arrival of the night. That was the golden age of television! Now there are hundreds of TV channels, but the audience has shrunk sharply, leaving some middle-aged and elderly viewers still in front of the TV.

Along with television, dance halls and video halls emerged. As long as there is a big house, you can open a dance hall. A few cents to buy a ticket, you can "hiss" and "hiss" jump up. The dance hall is the place of friendship of the Xifeng people, and it is also the place of right and wrong, which has achieved some beautiful marriages and caused some fights and brawls. The unit has a retired employee, who loves to dance, must dance every day, must arrive at every scene, it is said that it is a bit "old and immoral", and sometimes no one is invited in a circle. The video hall is also very popular, walking on the street, you can hear Bruce Lee and other "hey-ha" and "hey-ha" fighting sounds everywhere, when Hong Kong martial arts films were very popular in Xifeng. Dance halls and video halls must also have a "hall", karaoke can also be sung on the street, a chair, put a TV, DVD player, a few boxes of popular song tapes, a dollar can play a song.

At the same time as television rose, film declined. Around the end of the 1990s, I saw the last movie at westpeder cinema, True Lies. Later, the West Peak Cinema closed its doors and was later demolished. The imprint of another era in West Peak has disappeared.

Along with the decline of film is traditional folk culture. In the past, after three days of the year, the social fire began to step on the street. A team of social fires wearing red and hanging green wore streets and alleys to perform for the public, and also gave units, enterprises and stores to visit the New Year. The community fire came, and a few strings of firecrackers were put to welcome; at the end of the performance, give some melon seeds, candy, and a little money to express gratitude. Until the twentieth day of the first month, the community fire is performed intensively, which is the traditional folk custom of Xifeng, and the government must organize it and evaluate it. After twenty years, the year of the West Peak was over. Later, people slowly stopped being willing to receive the social fire performance, and the social fire centralized performance on the twentieth day of the first month was also terminated.

Although the West Peak is small and remote and backward, it was after all the 1980s of the last century, and it was still a spring tide. Xifeng has a Qingyang Teachers' College, more than a dozen secondary schools, no matter what major they study, each school has at least one literary club, including a middle school. They also run their own publications that engrave wax plates and mimeographs. On the dusty streets of Xifeng, a group of young people with suits and leather shoes, long hair and ears, and speaking Mandarin have appeared, most of whom have returned from studying in other places, with passion, with new knowledge, and new ideas. There are many newsstands on the street, "People's Literature", "Poetry Journal", "Prose", "Football", "Martial Arts", "Southern Weekend", of course, "Reader", many newspapers and periodicals can be bought. Once, when I received a notice of the use of the "Stars" poetry journal, I was excited, and I couldn't wait for the sample journal to be sent, and in the days when the journal was about to be listed, I rode to the Xiaoshizi newspaper kiosk every day to inquire. When I rushed to the newsstand again, I found that a person had just bought a copy, and while walking and reading, I had always been reluctant to deal with people on my own initiative, and I plucked up enough courage to catch up and greet me, only to learn that this person's name was Jia Jiancheng, a worker in the Second Agricultural Factory, and a person who loved poetry. Jia Jiancheng was later laid off, worked everywhere to support his children and went to college, and is still writing poems and publishing his own poetry collection.

At that time, there was a group of passionate literary youths in Xifeng, who met in march and five to talk about poetry papers; often held lectures, seminars, and recitations, which were full of cultural atmosphere. Mo Yan has just become popular, the movie "Red Sorghum" was released, the controversy is continuous, the praisers hold the sky, and the detractors step into the ground. One person greets, dozens of people respond, you can start a lively discussion. The arguments were red-faced, but the attitude was extremely correct and serious.

Among this group of literary youth, there are more than twenty people who can often publish their works in well-known journals. "Beidou" magazine and "Longdong Bao" are holy places for beginner writers, gathering a large number of authors and cultivating many new people. At that time, I had not yet written any works, and I also gave lectures and autographs everywhere, which was sought after. Many students who were not from the school where I taught still called me teachers and talked about my "style" at that time, which really made people blush.

The world has changed, the literary youth of that year has been dying of old age, and there are very few people who insist on writing and taking literature as their profession, but no matter what profession they are engaged in, there are many people who study and study all their lives. I didn't expect to embark on the road to politics, but the era I experienced is worth remembering forever.

West Peak me

The first time I went to West Peak, around 1977, was to visit my sister who worked at West Peak, and I have been here a few times since. After going to college, every winter and summer vacation has to pass through Xifeng, at least one night, all living in the home of classmates. Until graduating from university in 1987 and officially settling in Xifeng, it has been 35 years.

My first unit, in the middle of nowhere, away from the little shizi. There are two three-storey brick and concrete buildings that house the whole school's classrooms, laboratories, student dormitories, and faculty dormitories. A new three-storey single-sided building is an office building. The campus was not hardened, and the ground was muddy with rain and snow. The main street is also a dirt road, which has been raining for several days, and the big trucks have been trapped in it, and they can't drive out until the clouds clear and the mud and water dry up. But I was satisfied, jumped out of the farm, did not have to sweat in the black water to plane food; lived in a dry board cold bed for a few years, ate cold steamed buns for a few years, the highest ideal is to eat hot rice, the goal has been achieved, there is nothing unsatisfied.

There are also difficult problems in life. At that time, everyone's life was not easy, and it was more difficult for a single worker with a home in a foreign country.

My dormitory is a north-facing room on the first floor, with a window in the north direction and another window in the middle between the two floors in the east. Broken windows, ventilation on three sides. There is no heating, and in the winter, the school sends out some coal and some foam coal. Foam coal should be put on the soil and beaten into coal bricks by yourself. The stove mud is not good, the old knock down the smoke, the fire has never burned. The most difficult thing is to eat, usually go to the student stove, the privilege of the faculty and staff is to go directly to the stove room, hit the meal, and eat on the head of the desk. After the winter and summer vacations, the stove stopped, there were few restaurants on the street, they could not afford to eat, they were far away, and they often ate only one meal a day, or even one meal. After having children, in a row of bungalows on the side of the unit, I was given another house that used to be a toilet. The house was low, dark and damp, and had to hit the coal bed. Burn it into ashes as a flame with wheatgrass dots, place it under the bed, and cover it with a fine layer of coal foam. It's definitely a technical job that I can only do with the help of enthusiastic neighbors. The child's full moon is the twenty-ninth day of the Waxing Moon, he steamed some steamed buns, relatives sent a pork leg, burned it with fire chopsticks, boiled it, and spent the New Year in this "toilet".

Later, the unit raised funds to build a family building, and I needed to pay eleven thousand yuan. At that time, eleven thousand yuan was definitely a huge amount of money, and the money that was put together from the east and west was put on the coffee table, and it was a lot of money, which was the most money I had ever seen in my life. In order to repay the debt, under the strong opposition of the unit, I secretly taught part-time in a private vocational school, and the farthest class was in the central village of Houguanzhai, about 20 miles away. I took the lecturer's class hour fee in the title of assistant lecturer, five yuan per lesson, and in order to save time, I had six lessons a day, which was really hoarse.

The building was occupied, but the building, facing east and west, was in front of the window of a large unit behind the toilet, and on the east side was the farmer's pigsty toilet, and there was a dirt road in front of the door, and there was still a long dirt slope at the end. There is no heating, the glyph structure, it covers its own light. Water and electricity are often cut off, sometimes for a week or half a month. The fire is not strong, the electric blanket can not be used, all day long water storage, water, water, etc., that is really a difficult na! But the child still grows up day by day, and the days go by day by day.

Later, I lived the same life as most people. All the past has become a prologue.

A citizen's personal narrative about a city

Ma Ye

"Thirty-eight years have passed, and the fingers are at a stroke of the fingers", this is the sentiment that Mao Zedong issued when he returned to Jinggangshan. Now I have been working and living in West Peak for 35 years. 35 years, generations were born and generations passed away. In 35 years, I have changed from a vigorous and spirited youth to an old man with white hair like snow and dull and forgetful; in 35 years, Xifeng has changed from a remote and backward rural market town to a modern city with considerable scale and momentum. In 35 years, Xifeng and I have changed, I have become older, but Xifeng has become younger and more energetic. For a city, in the past 35 years, many earth-shaking and singable and weeping are worth recording by historians and summarizing by rulers. For me, it is just an ordinary citizen of the city, and what I feel is the bits and pieces of food, clothing, shelter and transportation. In daily life, I often reminisce, miss, and sigh. I recall my past with Xifeng, miss the prosperity of Xiaoshizi, and lament the vicissitudes of the world, but they are all casual and loose, and I have never thought of putting it into words. The plan of "I and Xifeng This City" of Longdong Bao suddenly ignited the spark of my thoughts, opened the exit of the narrative, and let me sneak around in the miscellaneous affairs, and write more than 8,000 words in one breath. This is just a citizen's personal narrative about a city. There is no historical evidence, no grand theme, not even praise, even if it is a crude brick, it hopes to lead to a series of pearls.
