Ski jumping, known as the "flying" event at the Winter Olympics, is extremely ornamental and loved by ice and snow fans. The Beijing Winter Olympic Ski Jumping Competition will be held from February 5 to 14, with a total of 5 gold medals (men's events are individual standard platform, individual big jump platform and team competition, women's events are individual standard platform, mixed team competition), of which mixed teams are new events. In the competition that began at 7 p.m. on the 14th, 4 players from each of the 11 participating teams took turns to play, and Zhou Xiaoyang was the last chinese player to appear. Since each team ranked the strongest players in the last group, the top players who competed with Zhou Xiaoyang in the fourth group were the top masters including the men's individual standard platform champion of ski jumping, Japan's famous Kobayashi Lingyou, and the big jump champion Norway's Lindwick. In the end, Zhou Xiaoyang jumped 86 meters and scored 34.5 points, and the four players of the Chinese team scored a total of 115 points in the first round, ranking 11th, regrettably failing to rank in the top eight and enter the final round.

Born in 2002, Zhou Xiaoyang is currently one of the best male athletes in the ski jumping project in China. In September 2018, Zhou Xiaoyang was selected into the national training team through the cross-border cross-border cross-sports selection led by the Provincial Sports Bureau and organized by the School of Physical Education of Zhengzhou University, and engaged in ski jumping for 3 years. In the project carried out in the early stage of the 14th National Winter Games, Zhou Xiaoyang won two silver medals. In September 2021, Zhou Xiaoyang jumped the best in China at 145 meters in the big jump training. At present, his standard platform project performance is stable at about 95 meters, and the performance of the big jump event is stable at more than 125 meters, ranking among the best in the national team.

In the list of Chinese delegations previously announced, there were only four Henan players, He Jinbo, Ran Hongyun, Jin Jingzhu and Wu Qingze. In the ski jumping team, there are only female athletes Dong Bing and Peng Qingyue, and male athletes Song Qiwu, a total of 3 team members. Before the competition, the day before the ski jumping men's team big jumping competition, Zhou Xiaoyang entered the final lineup of the Chinese team in a supplementary manner, as the fifth Henan athlete to board the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, which was a surprise. In fact, Zhou Xiaoyang has been seriously preparing for the competition according to the requirements of a Winter Olympic player, and his excellent strength and condition have given him a rare opportunity to make up for it.

Before the Beijing Winter Olympics, Chinese athletes had only participated in ski jumping competitions at the Winter Olympics twice. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, the men's team participated in the individual standard platform, the big jump platform and the team big jump, and at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Chang Xinyue appeared as the first female athlete in China, and became the first Chinese athlete to break into the ski jumping final of the Winter Olympics, and finally won the 20th place in the women's individual standard platform.

Entering the Beijing Winter Olympic cycle, the Chinese ski jumping team overcame many difficulties and completed the task of forming a team, participating in the competition and striving for Olympic qualification in the shortest possible time. On the other hand, Hebei Laiyuan National Ski Jumping Training and Scientific Research Base has built the world's largest and most complete ski jumping laboratory wind tunnel, which can simulate a variety of training scenarios, and the wind tunnel is only 500 meters away from the platform, which can realize real-time switching of actions. Although China is still in the position of catching up in ski jumping, after having the world's most advanced venues and facilities, China's ski jumping looks forward to the future in line with the world level.
