The second round of "double first-class" construction universities and construction disciplines list involves a total of three universities in Anhui. Specifically, these include:

About the announcement of the second round of "double first-class" construction of colleges and universities
and notification of the list of disciplines for construction

According to the State Council's "Overall Plan for Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of World-Class Universities and First-Class Disciplines", as well as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Development and Reform Commission's "Several Opinions on Deeply Promoting the Construction of World-Class Universities and First-Class Disciplines" and "Implementation Measures for Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of World-Class Universities and First-Class Disciplines (Provisional)", the Second Round of "Double First-Class" is hereby announced after the expert committee has determined that the Ministry of Education and other three ministries and commissions have studied and reported to the State Council for approval. List of construction universities and construction disciplines (see Annex 1) and the list of the first round of construction disciplines that will give public warnings (including revocation) (see Annex 2).
Peking University and Tsinghua University independently determined the construction disciplines in the second round of "double first-class" construction and announced themselves. The first round of construction disciplines that have been given public warnings should be rectified and evaluated in 2023.

With the approval of the State Council, the list of "double-first-class" construction universities and construction disciplines was updated and announced, and a new round of construction was officially launched.
The three ministries and commissions have deeply studied and implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the 23rd meeting of the Central Committee for Comprehensively Deepening Reform, and further clarified and refined the guiding ideology, basic principles, main tasks and support mechanisms for the new round of "double first-class" construction on the basis of the "Overall Plan for Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of World-Class Universities and First-class Disciplines". Building a world-class university and a first-class discipline is a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, a leading and landmark project for the construction of a higher education power in the new era, and of great significance for improving the comprehensive strength of higher education, supporting the innovation-driven development strategy, and serving the high-quality economic and social development. The first round of "double first-class" construction was launched in 2016 and ended in 2020, and all construction universities in various places actively implemented the main responsibility, continuously deepened their understanding, and steadily promoted the reform and innovation of key areas and key links such as talent training, effectiveness evaluation, and scientific research management. After hard work, by the end of 2020, a number of first-class teaching teams have been built and introduced, a group of top-notch innovative talents have been trained, high-level scientific research capabilities have been effectively improved, a number of major scientific innovations and key technological breakthroughs have been transformed into advanced productive forces, a number of universities have gradually ranked among the world's first-class universities, a number of disciplines such as materials science and engineering have gradually entered the world's top list, important progress has been made in some key fields such as quantum science, and high-quality first-class universities and first-class discipline construction systems are taking shape. According to the first round of monitoring data and effectiveness evaluation, the three ministries and commissions determined the new round of construction universities and disciplines in accordance with the areas of urgent need of the national strategy during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period determined by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, in accordance with the principle of "overall stability, optimization and adjustment", and after the research of the "double-first-class" construction expert committee, the demand-oriented, discipline-based, and comparative selection as a means have determined the new round of construction universities and discipline scope. A total of 147 universities were published. There are 59 basic disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, 180 engineering disciplines, and 92 philosophy and social science disciplines in the construction disciplines. The disciplines independently constructed by Peking University and Tsinghua University are self-published. In order to enhance the construction momentum, improve the constraint mechanism, and warn some disciplines that have not fully met the expectations of the first round of construction results and are relatively backward compared with similar disciplines in terms of the overall development level, sustainable development ability and growth improvement, the relevant disciplines should strengthen rectification and reform, and accept re-evaluation in 2023.
