Implanting 23 monkeys with chips to kill 15 Musk Brain-Computer Interface Company was sprayed wildly

The brain-computer interface company that Musk co-founded in 2016 has been accused of abusing monkeys after several years of experimenting with implanting chips into 23 monkeys, which eventually led to the death or euthanasia of 15 monkeys.

The company, called Neuralink( Neural Connections), studies brain-computer docking techniques. The goal is to help people recover from brain injuries, spinal injuries, treat depression and other mental disorders, and connect humans directly to the internet. At the time, Musk gave all sorts of beautiful possibilities on social media.

However, the animal rights group PCRM found that between 2017 and 2020, the University of California, Davis, installed Neuralink brain chips for 23 experimental monkeys, but at least 15 of them died or were euthanized.

The brain-computer docking device they studied consisted of a miniature probe with more than 3,000 electrodes on it. Electrodes are connected to soft lines thinner than a hair to monitor brain neuronal activity. Musk has posted on social media that monkeys with chips installed have successfully manipulated the game through their minds.

PcRM said that by applying for university public records, they reviewed more than 700 pages of documents, veterinary records and autopsy reports. Monkeys fitted with Neuralink brain chips were found, "almost every monkey suffered quite severe health effects." ”

Currently, PCRM has filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture alleging that UC Davis and Neuralink violated 9 animal protection laws.
