According to Agence France-Presse, after Palmeiras lost to Chelsea in the Club World Cup, riots broke out among fans watching the game in São Paulo, Brazil, and one fan was shot in the chest and died.

It is reported that before the match, a large number of Palmeiras fans gathered at the side of a stadium in São Paulo to watch the game through the big screen, and Chelsea eventually won. After the game, the atmosphere in São Paulo quickly warmed up, and there were large-scale clashes, and people constantly threw stones and other debris. Mounted police at the scene dispersed the crowd in the confusion. A 35-year-old man was shot in the chest and was taken to the hospital because of his injuries and ineffective rescue.

A source from the São Paulo police department told AFP that there had been several fights between the fan base and that a man had been shot dead. Police then arrested a suspect and 15 others were injured in the clashes.
