On the morning of October 13, When Mr. Sun, who lives on Datansha Island in Liwan District, went to the riverside for morning transportation, he accidentally found an injured "white bird" at the embankment. Out of kindness, Mr. Sun immediately settled the "White Bird" and contacted the Guangzhou Wildlife Rescue Center. It was confirmed that this "white bird" turned out to be a national second-class protected animal egret!

According to Mr. Sun's recollection, on the morning of the 13th, when he was transporting along the Pearl River on Datansha Island as usual, he accidentally found a "white bird" with a snow-white body and a pointed and long mouth resting at the embankment. Out of interest, Mr. Sun picked up his mobile phone and took a few photos, but found that the "white bird" not only did not fly away, but kept flapping its wings and hovering in place, as if it was injured.

Because the riverside was windy and the sky was drizzling, Mr. Sun immediately picked up the "white bird" out of kindness, and took it all the way to the property management center of his residential community, put the "white bird" into the bird cage with the help of the property personnel, and contacted the Guangzhou Wildlife Rescue Center. Confirmed by the staff of the center, this "white bird" is the national second-level protected animal egret. The staff then took the egret back to the centre for recuperation and promised to release it again when it was healed.
The environment of Da Tansha Island is getting better year by year, and the egret has become another landscape
It is understood that Mr. Sun is a photography enthusiast, and usually has time to pick up the camera to photograph the natural scenery on the island and record the moments of life. He told reporters that this is not the first time he has seen egrets by the river. As early as 2019, when Mr. Sun was filming by the river, he once saw the picture of egrets foraging and playing on the Pearl River.

The egret is a kind of "ecological bird", the natural environment requirements are very high, and a good ecological natural environment will attract the favor of the egret. With the continuous advancement of the renovation work of Datansha Island in recent years, the environment on the island is getting better and better, the Linjiang Bidao has been renewed, the results of the river surge improvement have been remarkable, and various renovation projects are also being carried out in an orderly manner.
In June 2020, the landscape demonstration section of Datansha Island was officially opened to the public. Compared with before the transformation, the upgraded greenway has added convenient facilities such as lighting and fitness equipment on the original basis, and is equipped with public places such as fitness squares, boulevards, leisure areas, etc., combined with unique riverscape resources, providing citizens with a public area integrating viewing, leisure, entertainment and fitness.

In September this year, Grand Tansha Island completed another 1.27 km east coast section of the Bidao. On the basis of the original, Bidao has added a blue cycling channel and signage, and added a jogging track to facilitate the daily running and fitness of the public by the river. In addition, the tree pond part has also been transformed, the original vegetation is gone, replaced by a layered, colorful green plant area, some shrubs through the dredging decoration and other garden techniques to improve the ornamentation, to create a new and beautiful ecological tree pond.

Nowadays, walking on the riverside of Da Tan sha Island, you can often see the citizens who run and exercise in the morning, sit on the stone bench and sit two or three confidants, chat in the shade of the trees, and from time to time there are citizens fishing by the river, a comfortable and harmonious life scene, and the appearance of egrets has become another beautiful landscape of Da Tan Sha Island.
